A pair of Barton Community College women's cross country team members had their last regular season tune-up Saturday competing at the Cowley Tiger Preview held at the Kansas Veterans' Home in Winfield, Kansas.
Fielding just the two runners, Lakota Schultz, who competed for host Cowley last year, recorded a season best 5k race time of 20:10.43 in placing 20th of the 53-entry race.
Freshman Lainie Sleichter also had a solid race by taking off over two minutes from her best time in posting a 24:18.94 clocking to place 48th overall.
Training for the next two weeks, Barton returns to Winfield for the KJCCC/Region 6 Championships held Friday, October 25.
