The Wellington Heat used a pair of 4-run innings to beat the Great Bend Bats Cats 9-7 in the semi-finals of the Summerball Showdown in Goddard Sunday.
The Heat scored four runs in the first inning to take a 4-2 lead, than scored four more in the fifth to take an 8-5 lead after Great Bend has claimed a 5-4 lead with 3-runs in the top of the fifth.
After Great Bend scored 2-runs in the top of the eighth to pull within 8-7, the Heat answered with a single tally in the bottom of the inning and then shut the Bat Cats down in the ninth to win the game 9-7.
Wellington went on to lose to the Dirtbag Baseball Club 5-3 in the championship game. The Dirtbags, who beat El Dorado in the other semi-final Sunday, won their second straight Summerball Showdown championship.
Great Bend ends their season with a record of 33-13.
