Great Bend Post
The City of Great Bend experienced 36 years with Howard Partington
serving as city administrator. The position has been a little more fluid since Partington’s
retirement in 2017. The city used George Kolb as an interim for about a year,
Kendal Francis for more than four years and now Logan Burns as interim. Burns
was appointed interim city administrator last December once Francis announced
his resignation to accept a position in Hutchinson.
Strategic Government Resources (SGR) was hired for $18,500 to handle the search
for the next administrator, and Burns said there have been several applications
already submitted.
"Currently we have 16 applications for the city administrator search," said Burns. "The search is open until February 17."
According to the job description posted by SGR, candidates should have at least
three years of related experience, and experience as an assistant city manager
in a larger community will be favorably considered. The job description states the
position will include a starting salary range of $114,206 to $171,309.
