While maybe the biggest election result from last November’s election, from the City of Great Bend’s standpoint was the renewal of the half-cent sales tax, there will be one change in the makeup of the city council.

Gary Parr was elected to represent Ward 1 on the city council. Parr garnered 544 votes in the General Election compared to the 437 votes for incumbent Lindsey Krom-Craven.

Parr will be sworn into office at Monday, Jan. 6 meeting. City Clerk Shawna Schafer will administer the Oath of Office for the elected officials. Along with Parr, incumbents Kevyn Soupiset, Davis Jimenez and Tina Mingenback will take the oath after winning uncontested races.

The city council meeting Monday begins at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.
