It’s been 25 years since there was a parade held in Liebenthal, but organizers of the Fall Fest are eager to see a large crowd attend the parade on Saturday, Sept. 19. The parade starts at 11 a.m., and all community organizations, businesses, civic clubs and school groups from the surrounding area are invited to have an entry. This is a great way for businesses to promote their services.
Classic cars, motorcycles, bicycles, pets and church groups are encouraged to have a parade entry. Individuals, families or class reunion groups that would like to have a parade float or walk in the parade are asked to contact the committee. The parade line up will begin at 10:30 a.m. on West 4th Street – just west of Hwy 183. To sign up your parade entry email: Liebenthalfallfest@gmail.com
To kick off the activities for the day, a 3K Color Fun Run will be held at 9 a.m., and all age groups are welcome to participate. Participants will be “sprayed” with color dyes as they make their way through the course! The lineup will take place at 4th & Elm Streets. Also set up and ready to start at 9 a.m. will be craft vendors, the beer garden and a tractor show.
Several unique events that will bring out the curiosity seekers and those looking for a special kind of challenge will be the Stein Holding Contest at noon, Skillet Throwing Competition at 1 p.m., and a Beard Competition at 1:30 p.m. The Stein Holding Contest will have a Men and Women’s Division with a max of 20 contestants each. First come, first to compete. Winner in each division will receive a commemorative Stein! Competitors must be at least 21 years old.
The Beard Competition will feature five categories to be judged on the longest beard, scruffiest beard, best groomed beard and the beard the judges determine looks most like a Santa Claus beard. The last category will encourage young and old, or boys and girls to participate in the best looking Fake Beard. All are welcome to enter and can register on-site prior to the start of the competition.
