Kyle Walter received approval from the Great Bend City Council Monday night to place an RV park at 833 10th Street, just behind HandleBar & Grill.
Walter’s intent is put 34 RV sites plus a bath house and laundry
facility on the grounds. The once mobile home park will have hookups for water,
sewer and electrical. Walter said he does not anticipate many long-term stays
once the area is ready.
"There are going to be workers that come in from Bushton," said Walter. "They stay months on end at the motel. I'm going to encourage them to come use the RV park. I would prefer not to have longer stays except for work crews. I'm not looking to have a mobile home park."
Walter plans for the RVs to enter east of the Baltzell Lodge where users will
check in. In the future, there are plans to add a tornado shelter and fencing
around the property.
The city council approved a motion to adopt a resolution for a conditional use permit for the RV park.
