On Sunday, Sept. 3, at approximately 4:38 p.m., officers with the Great Bend Police Department were dispatched to Casey's General Store, 2716 10th Street, in reference to a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. The officers were advised three subjects in the vehicle had possibly gotten into an argument while on the property and had been parked in front of the business for an extended period of time.
K9 Maxx from the Barton County Sheriff's Office responded for a free air sniff of the vehicle. The K9 alerted to the odor of illegal narcotics, and the three subjects were detained.
After a search of the vehicle, Heather Holmes, age 41, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. The other two subjects were released from the scene. Holmes was transported to the Barton County Jail and booked in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
