
The 12th ranked Barton Community College volleyball team made it a short Wednesday night at the Fleske Fieldhouse, sweeping Seward County Community College (25-19, 25-17, 25-19).
The victory marks the Cougars' sixth straight in the series, improving Barton to 8-1 in conference play and 21-5 overall. The Saints, meanwhile, dropped to 3-6 in league action and 6-14 on the season.
Barton continues its homestand Saturday with a 6:00 p.m. first serve against Dodge City Community College.
Barton hit a collective .255 on the night, led by reigning KJCCC Offensive Player of the Week Stasa Stamenkovic, who paced the offense with 13 kills at a .360 clip while adding 14 digs for her 12th double-double of the season. Caroliny Cristiny contributed nine kills, while fellow freshman Brylynn Wicker turned in one of her stronger performances with six kills on a .417 attack percentage and two blocks.
Aubrey Olander added eight kills on .353 efficiency and five block assists, teaming with Paola Batista, who led the front line with six block assists. Indigo Pruitt chipped in three additional blocks while providing a .571 attack on four kills.
Freshman setter Ori Briger efficiently steered the offense with 21 assists, three aces, and eight digs, while Mileah Neal added 13 assists and two aces in the 6-2 rotation.
Defensively, libero Mina Kaneko continued her climb up the Barton record book, adding to her program's sixth-most career dig total by anchoring the back row with 21 digs on the night. Her steady play helped the Cougars extend long rallies and maintain control throughout the sweep.
