For the second straight week the 4th ranked Barton Community College men's track and field team showed up in Texas as the Cougars won four events this past weekend at the Masked Rider Open hosted by Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.

Overall on the day, Barton produced nine personal bests within its thirteen top-nine placings including teasing the program record book on two performances.

One of those performances came from Tyrese Reid in the 800m, winning the event for the second consecutive week in crossing the line at 1:50.61 and just missing the school's best top ten times by a mere .11 seconds.

Both of the Cougars' relays posted season bests efforts in claiming the 4x400m title and coming in runner-up to host Texas Tech in the 4x100m by .31 seconds. In the 4x400, the tandem of Jevon O'Bryant, Caleb Boger, Telron Bradford Jr., and Ja'Kwan Hale clocked a nation leading 3:08.47 time, .53 seconds ahead of NJCAA rival South Plains College. The short track relay squad just missed a program top ten time by an eyelash .01 seconds as Almighty Williamson, Denzell Feagin, O'Bryant, and Boger passed the baton for the one trip around the oval in a nation's current second best time of 39.68.

The nation's leader in both runway jumps, Shakwon Coke continues to dominate the alternating of the long jump and triple jump, this week capturing the Masked Rider long jump title by over eight inches with a 7.89m (25-10.75) splash in the sand.

Barton came away with three top four performances in throwing events. Fred Moudani won the shot put for the second straight week, winning the Open by over two feet with a 17.90m (58-08.75) as Giovanni Gutierrez placed 4th at 15.58m (51-01.50).

Hammer throw program record holder Fabio Hessling placed second overall, marking a 64.48m (211-06) throw.

The Cougars will split their squad on April 22nd for its final tune-up before post-season, most of the team headed to Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the Don Kirby Tailwind Open while the throwers make the short drive to Concordia, Kansas, for the Thunderbird Classic.
