Unknown vehicle parks inside Great Bend garage, man arrested for burglary

On Wednesday, June 25, at approximately 12:35 p.m., detectives and officers from the Great Bend Police Department responded to a burglary in progress at a residence in the 1200 block of Truman Street. Upon officers’ arrival, the owners of the property reported being unable to open their garage door, and that a vehicle unknown to them was parked inside. 

As officers made entry into the residence, Calvin Jackson Hinz, age 41, attempted to flee on foot, but was taken into custody a short distance away. Upon the arrest of  Hinz, jewelry taken from the residence, as well as THC were found on his person. Hinz was arrested for burglary and possession of THC and was booked at the Barton County Jail in lieu of bond.
