      • Persons may present ideas or concerns regarding USD 428. The Board will take no action at this meeting. Such items will be referred to the appropriate administrator(s) for future information and researched and reported back to the Board at a later meeting. Personalities and behavior of employees are not to be presented during this period but are to be reported to the employee’s immediate supervisor. The president shall determine the amount of time to be spent for citizen participation.

3. RECOGNITIONS / PRESENTATIONS
    Director’s Report:
      Each month, a district director will present department updates to board members. Andrea Bauer, Director of Public Information, will provide a report to board members at this meeting.

4. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
   None

5. NEW BUSINESS
   A. First Reading of Cardiac Emergency Response Plan (CERP)
      A well-developed plan is essential for the best outcomes during a cardiac emergency and the Safety Committee has worked to develop a Cardiac Emergency Response Plan that establishes the specific steps to reduce death from cardiac arrest. This plan is adaptable for schools, support services, office work areas, and sports facilities. The Second Reading will be in January, and the administration will request approval.

   B. First Reading of BOE Policy
      BOE members review policy revisions, which are being presented as first readings. The policy revisions will be returned to the BOE for action at a subsequent meeting. 

6. CURRICULUM REPORT
   A. Adoption Updates
      Mrs. Blevins will provide an update regarding this year's curriculum adoptions in several content areas.

   B. McKinney-Vento Subgrant Update
      Mrs. Blevins will provide an update on the goals of the subgrant by the McKinney-Vento team.

   C. District Improvement Plan Update
      Mrs. Blevins will provide an update regarding standards alignment and work around improving instructional quality.

   D. KESA 2.0 Update
      Mrs. Blevins and Mr. Popp will provide an update on the district's work on school improvement.

   E. Curriculum Meetings
      Curriculum Steering Committee: Next meeting 1/7/25
      Professional Development Council (PDC): 12/2/24 minutes, next meeting 1/6/25

7. BUSINESS AND OPERATIONS REPORT
   A. Central Kitchen Air Curtains
      The Food Service Department will have three heated air curtains installed on the south receiving doors at the central kitchen. The cost to purchase the air curtains is $11,214, and it will cost an additional $2,500 to install them.

   B. Project Project Updates
      Mr. Popp will discuss updates on the following projects.
         GBHS main gymnasium – new paint
         ▪ Surplus Property closing dates:
            o 201 S. Patton Road – sale price $700,000, closing date 12/13/24
            o 2019 12th Street – Sale price $211,111, closing date 12/18/24
            o 2201 Broadway Avenue – Sale price $100,000, closing date 12/19/24

8. SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT

   A. USD 428 Education Foundation Mini-grants
      Awarded Education Foundation grant applications are utilized for innovative teaching techniques for USD 428 educators to benefit their students. The online application will be emailed to teachers this month. Mini-grants are awarded in the spring for classroom use the following school year.

11. EXECUTIVE SESSION
   The Board of Education will go into executive session. “Madam President, I move that the board recess into executive session to discuss the superintendent’s evaluation pursuant to non-elected personnel exception under KOMA. The open meeting will resume in this room at ___:___P.M.”

12. UPCOMING MEETING DATES
   •BOE Luncheon Meeting- There is no lunch meeting in December
   •Winter Recess- December 23, 2024, through January 6, 2025. (January 6 is a teacher workday)
   •BOE Regular Meeting- The next BOE regular monthly meeting is scheduled for January 13, 2025, at the District Education Center.
