From the City of Russell Fire Department...
The City of Russell Fire Department was dispatched to 1430 South Fossil for a report of an electrical fire located somewhere in the Dole-Specter Conference Center at the Fossil Creek Inn & Suites.
Crews on scene observed no visible flame or smoke from the outside. Once entry was gained into the conference center, smoke could be seen near the ceiling along with the smell of burning electrical.
Crews evacuated the hotel and began searching for the source. Crews were able to determine that the electrical fire was from a burnt motor on the outside, inside the heating/cooling unit, causing the smoke and burnt electrical smell to enter the conference center.
The unit was isolated, and the hotel resumed normal operation.
