
Darrell Lee Zigler, 82, passed peacefully in his sleep on September 24, 2025, a Azria Woodhaven Health Care, Great Bend, Kansas.
He was born March 9, 1943, in Russell, Kansas, the son of Otto L. and Mary Jane (Davis) Zigler. In 1963 he graduated from Natoma High School, Natoma, Kansas.
On February 5, 1970, he married Shirley Cromwell in Hoisington, Kansas.
Darrell attended the Church of the Nazarene and was a member of the Masonic Lodge #331, all of Hoisington. He started working in the oil field as a cable tool driller and then a pulling unit operator, working for Vantage Well Service and Ivan Holt. He later worked as a traveling CNA and as a relief rural carrier for the post office. For 10 years he and Shirley owned and operated Ziggy’s Restaurant in Susank.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley Zigler; a son, David Zigler and wife Andrea of Lincoln, Nebraska; two daughters, Darla Carson and husband Chris of Springfield, Missouri, and Deana Zigler and husband Michael of Blue Springs, Missouri; three grandchildren, Dakota, Summer, and Autumn Zigler all of Blue Springs, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, with family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Don Fisher presiding. Burial will follow in Hoisington Cemetery.
