Sweet Dreams Candy Shop did not move far on along the Courthouse Square, but the relocation will allow more expansion for the business that has been open for just over a year and a half. Sweet Dreams moved from Lakin Avenue to 1403 Main Street in downtown Great Bend.
Skylar Meeker, owner and operator, says
after opening their doors Oct. 1, 2019, the store has grown
even through a pandemic.
"We felt if we could make it through our first year and have to deal with COVID-19, we can make it through anything," said Meeker. "Because we were a new business, we did not qualify for grant funding initially. We qualified for a couple small ones at the end of COVID but nothing in that hardest time when we were shut down."
Along with unique candy and treats that you will not typically find in a grocery
store, Sweet Dreams has rare beverages, drink bombs and honey sticks. The store
also features a “Do you dare?” section which includes the world’s most sour
candy ball, the world’s hottest nuts and will be getting the hottest gummy bear
and hottest lollipop.
"We have 16 flavors of cotton candy that we make fresh," said Meeker. "We have also added a line of beef jerky from Hutchinson."
Along with seating inside the candy shop, Sweet Dreams will soon be adding
another small business inside their building to operate a beverage bar that
will offer unique drinks.
