Jon Webster has been the head coach of the La Crosse Leopards for a long time. Also serving as the school’s principle, Webster is about to enter his 16th season as head coach, and has seen a lot of growth and change in his tenure. As a man with a lot of experience in sub-11 man football, Webster says the more time passes, the better the product becomes.

"You're definitely seeing, especially with the number going up (to 104), so more schools qualify. And then out west, it's getting harder for small school 11-man teams to find games against teams their size, so I think a lot of teams are coming down because of travel, and being able to fill a schedule without having to drive three hours.

"So we're seeing the competition out here get better. I think the coaching is getting better every year. There's more clinics that are geared toward 8-man. There's more resources online for 8-man. It's just definitely improving the game."

La Crosse opens the season at Kinsley on September 4th.
