Great Bend’s .15% quality of life sales tax will make its first “big” impact with the completion of a new splash pad this spring at Veterans Memorial Park. Crews arrived in Great Bend last October for the 50'-x-70' feature.
With the help of a Great Bend Kiwanis Club donation, City Administrator Brandon Anderson said there will be a pavilion near the splash pad.
"It'll give the kiddos and parents an opportunity to reserve the pavilion, free of charge, to host birthday parties or family gatherings," said Anderson. "We'll have fencing around it. We'll also upgrade the irrigation."
The $680,000 splash pad will feature a 3,000-gallon storage tank to recycle the water. The feature is located on the north side of the park, near the restrooms.
