On Thursday, Sept. 18, Cornerstone Automotive & Tire, LLC welcomed the community to a Chamber Coffee and Ribbon Cutting in celebration of its transition to new local ownership under Darin Hertel. More than 60 people gathered to hear Hertel share his vision for the business while enjoying homemade biscuits and gravy. Guests also had the chance to win door prizes, with three lucky attendees taking home a free oil change.
Hertel is no stranger to Cornerstone Automotive and Tire LLC. He has served as one of the shop managers for over two years, building strong relationships with both customers and technicians. With a background that includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Communication, an Associate’s Degree in Automotive Technology, and extensive experience in agriculture and automotive industries, Hertel brings a balance of technical know-how and business leadership to his new role.
Looking ahead, Hertel plans to remodel the customer-facing areas of the shop, including the front entrance, counter, and waiting room, creating a more welcoming space. He also intends to invest in updated equipment and expand staffing to keep up with demand. “Right now, we’re scheduling almost three weeks out,” Hertel explained. “That’s a good challenge to have, but I want to create a shop where customers can get quicker services, like oil changes and tire work, with more convenience.”
Currently, Cornerstone Automotive & Tire employs nine team members, including seven mechanics, two of whom are students gaining hands-on experience while pursuing their education. Hertel is also actively looking to grow his team to better serve customers.
