Two arrests Saturday in Great Bend for meth

On Saturday, Jan. 20, at about 5 p.m., a Barton County Sheriff’s Office deputy noticed an equipment violation on a Toyota Tacoma in about the 200 block of E. 10th Street in Great Bend.

The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle continued to travel east out of town and turned north on Northeast 20 Avenue. The vehicle finally stopped in the 200 block of Northeast 20th Avenue. Sheriff’s deputies identified the driver as Joshua Kelly, age 25 of Great Bend, as well as a passenger identified as Dennis Streiner, age 48 also of Great Bend.

Sheriff’s Office K9 Maxx and his handler responded to the scene to assist the other deputies. Maxx indicated the presence of controlled substances in the vehicle. Further investigation revealed methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Both occupants were arrested at the scene and transported to the Barton County Jail without incident. Streiner had two additional warrants from Great Bend Municipal Court. Both were booked on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Kelly, posted a $10,000 bond and has since been released. Streiner remains in jail in lieu of a $10,000 bond plus an additional $1,656 on the Great Bend warrants.
