The transformation of the Great Bend City Auditorium is less than a month away. With more information to come out within the next few weeks, Great Bend Recreation Commission Executive Director Chris Umphres reminded the public that Santa’s Workshop is scheduled for Dec. 9 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
"We had almost 30 boxes of stuff show up today for the event," said Umphres. "There's stuff coming in all the time. I know staff does a great job ordering that stuff when it's cheaper. That bulk ordering is crazy but we have plenty of places to store it now."
Preschool children through 6th grade are invited to stop by the auditorium to see Santa Claus. The 28th annual event will include crafts, prizes, food and entertainment for the children as they enjoy the Christmas workshop.
Last year, more than 850 necklaces were handed out, 650 cookies were distributed and nearly 300 letters to Santa were dropped off in Santa’s mailbox.
