
Wednesday morning, shortly before noon, officers with the Great Bend Police Department were advised of a hit and run accident which occurred in the 1000 block of Washington St. It was reported the vehicle that fled was a red Jeep Liberty with front end damage.
While on patrol, a deputy with the Barton County Sheriff's Office observed a vehicle matching that description at Casey's General Store, 1315 10th St. Officers arrived and began speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, identified as Jessy Eilers, 44, and Jessica Love, 42. While speaking with Eilers and Love, Barton County Sheriff's Office K9 REM was deployed for a free-air sniff of the vehicle. After a positive alert, officers conducted a search of the vehicle. Officers located methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Eilers was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving while Suspended and Duty to Give Information after an Accident. Love was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Interference with Law Enforcement.
Thursday night, just after 9:30 p.m., an officer with the Great Bend Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the 3500 block of 10th St. for a traffic infraction. Contact was made with the driver, Tricia Viegra, 54, and a passenger Roy Robinson, 48. During the stop, K9 NEO was deployed for a free-air sniff of the vehicle, subsequently indicating to the odor of narcotics. Methamphetamine and Drug Paraphernalia were located on Viegra, and Robinson was found to be in Possession of Marijuana.
Viegra was arrested for Distribution of Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and traffic charges. Viegra and Robinson were both transported to the Barton County Jail and booked in lieu of bond.
