Dorothy 'Dot' Vainer, age 86

Dorothy Yvonne “Dot” Vainer, 86, passed away August 31, 2024, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. She was born on December 18, 1937, in Phillipsburg, Kansas, to John and Levena (Belveal) Pflieger. On November 5, 1957, she married James “Jim” Vainer at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Salina, Kansas.

Dot had been a resident of Great Bend since 1971, coming from Concordia. She worked as a bookkeeper for over 50 years alongside her husband in the glass industry, including for Quality Glass. Dot was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish and Altar Society, and former member of AMBUCS. She volunteered to work at polling places during elections. Dot enjoyed spending time at the lake, boating and camping, and especially loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include two sons, David Vainer and wife Pam, and John Vainer and wife Lori, all of Great Bend; daughter, Debbie Quinn and husband Jim of Dover, Delaware; seven grandchildren, Jeremy, Matt, Megan, Kylie, Dalton, Katlin, and Aron; and eleven great grandchildren, Jackson, Lincoln, Brooke, Olivia, Valerie, Blair, Isaac, Ethan, Kennedie, Blaklie, and Oliver.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim; parents; and two brothers, J.R. and Rich Pflieger.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 5, 2024, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Father Prakash Kola presiding. Interment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery North. Visitation will take place noon to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2024, with Altar Society Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and Vigil at 7:00 p.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials have been designated to Prince of Peace Parish or Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
