Douglas Disque with Great Bend’s Code Enforcement department presented 12 property abatements to the Great Bend City Council for approval Monday night.
One of the abatements was in the 700 block of Baker Avenue for tree branches
sitting too low over sidewalks and streets.
"The tree was the main complaint," said Disque. "We need it trimmed up so people can go under."
City ordinance states branches or limbs cannot extend over sidewalks lower than
nine feet from the ground. Branches and limbs cannot extend over the street
lower than 14 feet from the surface.
