From Kansas Wetlands Education Center...
Our last water update was posted June 21. The center has recorded 1.31" of rain since. Birds are using any areas with standing water. Herons, Egrets, Ibis, Avocets, Stilts, Killdeer, Ducks, Pelicans, and Gulls are relatively commonly seen during most trips. We are also seeing an influx of early fall migrant shorebirds, including Least Sandpipers, Stilt Sandpipers, Lesser Yellowlegs, and Greater Yellowlegs. Recovering from the drought continues to be a slow process.
