The mission of United Way of Central Kansas is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities to advance the common good. One way to do that is by providing resources to its community partners. UWCK Director Charell Owings reminds those partners that the deadline to apply for funding for the upcoming year is Jan. 3.

"Any non-profit is welcome to apply to us," Owings said. "We do work in the fields of health, education, and financial stability, so their work does have to align with one of those three core focuses we work on. Each agency has to reapply each year for funding to ensure that their financial status is still in good standing, that they're in need of funds, and that they're doing good work within the community."

UWCK had 22 community partners this year. Each served its community in various ways, and Owings said that's why UWCK is pleased to support a range of organizations.

"It's important to give to each of these agencies because no one agency can do all the work that is needed in a community to make it strong and healthy," she said, "so we diversify our funding across those three core areas in order to ensure that we can create a really strong, healthy community."

Community Partner applications need to be submitted by 4 p.m. on Jan. 3, 2023. All submissions must be electronic, as handwritten applications will not be considered. Email applications to [email protected].
