In separate incidents, Sheriff’s deputies made arrests for suspected methamphetamine and cocaine Wednesday, Feb. 21.
At about 2:25 p.m., a deputy stopped a pickup truck in the 400 block of W. Barton County Road, approximately two miles west of the City of Great Bend.
Deputies checked the speed of the vehicle in excess of 90 miles an hour. Upon further investigation, deputies became suspicious of the presence of controlled substances and Sheriff’s Office K9 Maxx was deployed. Maxx indicated the presence of controlled substances and methamphetamine, cocaine and drug paraphernalia were located in the truck.
Arrested the scene was Michael Tammen, age 44 of Great Bend. Tammen was arrested and transported to the Barton County Jail without incident on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Tammen has since posted a $10,000 bond and been released.

In a second unrelated incident at about 4:49 p.m., a deputy stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of SW 50th Avenue. Sheriff’s officers identified the driver as Troy Perez, age 57 of Hudson. It was discovered Perez had outstanding warrants for probation violations from Pawnee County.
Perez was arrested on the warrants and transported to the Barton County Jail at which time suspected methamphetamine was found. Perez was booked on the Pawnee County warrants, one of which carried no bond as well as possession of methamphetamine and introduction of contraband into a correctional facility. Those charges have a $50,000 bond. Perez remains in jail as of the time of this press release.
