Nine members from the Barton Community College softball team earned Division I All-KJCCC and All-Region VI post-season honors as announced last week.

Outfielder Halie Stoneking and utility player Sydni Williams headlined the selections with first team honors. Pitcher Jessica Morgan, third baseman Calli McConnell, outfielder Jaysa Anderson, and designated player Jenna Henderson were named to the second team. Garnering honorable mention distinctions were pitcher Kayla Beers, catcher Leslie Ramos, and outfielder Laci Dryden.

The Cougars placed 4th in KJCCC standings at 22-10, concluding Carson DuBose's first collegiate season as a head coach at 30-22.

Halie Stoneking – 1st Team Outfielder

Stoneking capped her Barton career with multiple top ten program achievements, as well as, leaving her name amongst the best in program history.

Batting a team second best .430 at mostly the top of the lineup all season, Stoneking also drew 11 walks towards a .476 on-base percentage leading to a program single season 4th most 66 runs on the season.

The sophomore from Milliken, Colorado, was even better in conference action batting a league 5th best .495 in finishing among the top ten in most offensive categories.

At one point Stoneking carried a 19-game hit streak, a top five historical Cougar achievement, scoring runs in 18 of the games in the stretch and led the squad with eleven games of three or more hits.

Leading the team with 14 fence clearers for the 6th most in program single season achievements, the all-around performer also stole 21 bases for 7th most in a season. Stoneking was second on the squad in slugging percentage (.791), hits (74), triples (4), and total bases (136) while ranking in the team's top five in doubles (12), runs batted in (50), and hit by pitch (6).

Donning the Cougar uniform for three seasons due to Covid exceptions, Stoneking' closes her Barton career as the leader in at-bats (450) and runs (148), second in doubles (34) and stolen bases (41), third in hits (152) and home runs (26), and within the top five of triples (7), RBI (100), and hit by pitch (12).

Sydni Williams – 1st Team Utility

A second team selection last year, Williams was one of two multi-dimensional players for the Cougars, spending much of the time at first base but also inside the center circle.

Batting a team fourth best .365, Williams was within the top five in most offensive categories including leading the squad with a program single season 4th most 26 walks.

For the season the sophomore had a .463 on-base percentage with a .730 slugging percentage, collected 54 hits including 15 doubles and team second best 13 home runs and 55 runs batted in including a pair of 6 RBI games.

Transferring to Barton from an initial season at Cowley College, Williams also received a Covid exemption season and made the most of two seasons in the Cougar uniform to make an impact on the career chart of third in runs batted in (103) and walks drawn (51) while ranking fifth in runs scored (92) and home runs (22).

In the center circle, the Wichita, Kansas, native appeared in eight games, starting six of those with a 4-2 record with a 3.89 ERA. In her 36 innings pitched, Williams struck out 24 for a 4.67 strikeout-per-seven innings average.

Jaysa Anderson – 2nd Team Outfielder

A first team selection her initial season, Anderson's sophomore campaign was arguably even better in collecting a hit in 45 of her 51 games to lead the Cougars in multiple categories including a program second best ever .462 batting average featuring a program record 30-game hit streak.

Anderson closed out her Barton career batting .625 in final seven games, having a multi-hit performance in each going 15-of-24 with two home runs and 11 runs batted in.

In addition, the Wichita, Kansas, native led the squad with an .830 slugging percentage, .486 on-base percentage, connecting for 79 hits and 5 triples for 142 total bases. Anderson also ranked second on the team with 17 doubles and third in runs scored (49), runs batted in (53), and home runs (12) while defensively committing just two errors in 51 games.

Jessica Morgan – 2nd Team Pitcher

A sophomore pitcher from Lewistown, Montana, Morgan had a 9-3 record with a 3.27 ERA in 19 appearances and 13 starts. In conference play Morgan's 39.1 innings of work produced a 5-1 record and a 2.31 ERA, striking out 49 in walking just 12.

In total of 75 innings in the circle, Morgan allowed 78 hits and 35 earned runs with 91 strikeouts and 29 walks for an 8.49 strikeout-per-seven innings, finishing her Barton career among the program's top eight with 234 strikeouts at a 9.37 per seven inning fanning.

Morgan also had 12 trips to the plate, producing four hits including a double and home run in driving four across the dish.

Calli McConnell – 2nd Team Third Base

McConnell solidified the hot corner all season long while being a mainstay in the heart of the lineup.

The freshman from Wichita, Kansas, launched a 13-game hit streak early in her Barton career with five multi-hit games driving in 28 runs in the stretch.

McConnell tied for the team lead with 18 run producing games, atop the squad's chart with 66 runs batted in for the fourth most run production in a program single season, before concluding the season on a five game .529 average hit streak.

Batting a team third best .393 overall, McConnell drove in runs behind her team third best 66 hits, fourth best 10 home runs, and connecting on 20 doubles for the fifth most two-bag hits in a single season of program history.

Jenna Henderson – 2nd Team Designated Player

Like Williams, Henderson was another multi-dimensional player for the Cougars, mostly for her being in the lineup each day for her at-bats but also manning first base when Williams was in the circle or spinning the sphere herself.

At the plate as the temperature and meaning of games increased, so did Henderson in the final month of the season with a team second best .431 average behind Anderson and a team leading 7 home runs and 24 runs batted in.

Overall Henderson batted .324 with a .694 slugging percentage with a team fourth best 13 doubles. The Salina, Kansas, native also belted 9 home runs, four coming in a consecutive stretch late in the season, drove in 36 runs and drew 18 walks for a .459 on-base percentage.

In the circle Henderson made 20 appearances, starting 18 in compiling a 7-10 record and 3.99 ERA in striking out 79 in a team leading 86 innings for a 6.43 strikeouts-per-seven.

Kayla Beers – Honorable Mention Pitcher

Beers led the team with 25 appearances, starting form nine and coming in relief in the others. Hurling a team second most 67 innings, Beers struck out 63 for a 6.58 strikeout-per-seven in completing the year at 6-4 with a 4.81 ERA.

A third year sophomore from the Covid exemption, the Terrell, Texas, native finished her career in the Barton circle top ten on the program list with 28 wins against 22 losses, pitching just shy of 298 innings with a 4.54 ERA with 256 strikeouts to rank top five of the program all-time achieves.

Beers also had the opportunity to step to the plate eight times in her finale season, making the most of "Sophomore Day" on April 16th against Colby delivering her first collegiate hit with a run producing double. Beers' lone other hit came eleven days later with a leadoff single helping her cause in an 11-4 victory over Dodge City.

Leslie Ramos – Honorable Mention Catcher

A freshman catcher from Grand Island, Nebraska, Ramos was the Cougars' main dish manager throughout the season.

Improving consistently throughout her initial collegiate season, Ramos was 8-of-16 with six RBIs in the last six games of the year, finishing at .330 with 8 doubles, 3 triples and home run in driving in 23 runs in her 44 games played.

Like many of her teammates throughout the year, Ramos also left her name on the Barton record book beginning April 5th by wearing the badge of honor for the 13th time of the year to set a program record, finishing the season getting plunked 17 times total in drawing to within two of the all-time career record.

Laci Dryden – Honorable Mention Outfielder

A freshman outfielder from Wichita, Kansas, Dryden spent time in and out of the lineup early in her initial collegiate season before moving permanently into the starting left field position for 41 of the team's 52 games.

Improving every month including a .435 average for the month of April, Dryden finished with a .327 percentage out of the No. 2 hole of the lineup with 37 hits, 10 of those doubles with 4 triples and 4 home runs in driving in 21 runs. Defensively Dryden committed just one error in 26 conference games, finishing with just 3 overall for a .923 fielding percentage.

The post-season selections helped Barton to a record book impact year including scoring a program single game most 24 runs on April 30th against Northwest Kansas Technical College.

The Cougars batted a program 5th best .351 throughout the year for a history leading 119 doubles and 1.38 home runs per contest, drew a second most 175 walks, third best 8.04 runs and 7.50 RBI per game.

Led by Ramos' record breaking hit batsman total, the Cougars also had the dubious honor of leading the nation in the category for most of the year before settling for a third most 58 to shatter the program record in averaging 1.12 per contest.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Michael Wacha has been closer to pitching a no-hitter than he came Monday night, when he didn't allow a hit until Michael Massey singled leading off the eighth inning.

It was still a thrill for the 31-year-old Wacha, whose strong effort in his eighth start with his new team helped the struggling San Diego Padres beat the Kansas City Royals 4-0.

“I’ve been one out away and three outs away as well. Been flirting with it a few times now," Wacha said after striking out a career-high 11 and ending the Padres' five-game losing streak. "When the time’s right we’ll see what goes down.”

Massey’s hit to right field came on Wacha’s 103rd pitch and manager Bob Melvin immediately came out to pull the right-hander, who left to a standing ovation from the sellout crowd of 43,828. Nick Martinez came on and retired the side and then finished the combined two-hitter.

“I was doing the math in there. Would have loved a three-pitch inning there in the eighth and another one in the ninth," Wacha said. "Just trying to stay on the attack; maybe they would hit it to somebody, get some swing and misses in the zone. Just left a changeup there in the eighth and he put a good swing on it and hit the ball.”

Wacha said he and catcher Austin Nola continued with their typical discussions between innings as the game went along.

“I would say everything was pretty normal,” Wacha said. “I didn't like change jerseys or anything that I normally would. It was like, ‘Hey, this jersey’s working out pretty well for me right now.' I kept the same hat on. Usually I'm sweating through it. It was a nice night out there. I didn't sweat too much. Just rode with it.”

There were a few moments of confusion at the end as a fan ran onto the field just as Nick Pratto took a called strike three. The umpires huddled and ruled that the pitch from Martinez counted.

Wacha (4-1), signed as a free agent on Feb. 16, walked one. He had a perfect game going before hitting Edward Olivares with a pitch with one out in the fifth. Wacha walked Bobby Witt Jr. with two outs in the sixth before first baseman Jake Cronenworth made a terrific diving stop of Vinnie Pasquantino’s grounder to preserve the no-hit bid.

“He was getting a lot of swings and misses early,” Melvin said. “He had them really off balance today. Early on you had a pretty good idea that he was going to pitch a good game. A little uncomfortable there with sending him back out there for the eighth. Obviously we were going to go hitter by hitter.”

Joe Musgrove threw the Padres' only no-hitter on April 9, 2021, in his second start with his hometown team.

Melvin said he always agonizes “a lot” over pitch counts during a no-hit bid, and said he also had to keep in mind Wacha's history of injuries.

“Everybody else has a great time. I don't. My starting pitchers were giving me a little bit of a hard time because they were having a good time with it but they knew I was not," Melvin said.

Fernando Tatis Jr. had two hits, scored a run and drove in another as the Padres took advantage of Brad Keller's wildness to fix their offensive woes, for one night, at least.

Tatis singled leading off the first and advanced on Manny Machado's groundout and Keller's error. Keller then threw a wild pitch to the backstop that allowed Tatis to score.

Keller (3-4) walked four and hit a batter with a pitch to load the bases three times in the second, but the Padres were able to score only two runs. Tatis hit an RBI single and the other run came in when Machado was hit on the hand by a pitch with the bases loaded.

Tatis tried to score when a pitch briefly got away from Salvador Perez, but the catcher gathered it in and tagged him out. Juan Soto reloaded the bases with a walk before Xander Bogaerts grounded out weakly to end the threat.

Keller was pulled after issuing consecutive walks with two outs in the fourth, giving him eight for the night, against just two strikeouts. He allowed three runs, two earned, and three hits.

Padres: Machado came out of the game in the fourth. ... LHP Drew Pomeranz (elbow, neck) was transferred to the 60-day injured list.

Gaming &amp; Leisure Properties to build a potential stadium on the
Tropicana hotel site along the Las Vegas Strip. Bally’s on Monday
unveiled plans for a 30,000-seat stadium on the 35-acre site. The
project is expected to cost about $1.5 billion. The A’s are asking
for nearly $400 million in public support from the Nevada
Legislature, which could vote on a proposal this week.

The pitch clock has sped up baseball as hoped, and it might be
leading to more exciting endings, too. A quarter of the way through
Major League Baseball’s first season with the pitch timer, relief
pitchers seem to be bearing the most stress from it, with save
conversions dropping to 61.4% from 67.8% at a similar point last
season. The save percentage is near the bottom range of the past
decade, which averaged 65.1%, MLB said Monday. The high was 70% in
2015 and the low 61% in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season. Pitchers
say the stress of the late innings has become more difficult to
process with the pitch clock.

Denver Nuggets aren't concerned about their horrendous history
against the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA playoffs as they begin

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Kansas State signed football coach Chris Klieman to a new eight-year contract Monday that will pay an average of $5.5 million annually and could keep him tied to the defending Big 12 champion Wildcats through the 2030 season.

The $44 million deal replaces a contract due to end after the 2026 season that paid Klieman an average of $4 million annually.

“What we have been able to accomplish in our first four years here is due to the culture that our players and staff have been able to create,” Klieman said in a statement. “I am excited to continue to lead this football program and put a product on the field each year that can compete at the highest level.”

Klieman added that Kansas State, which is situated about 2 hours from Kansas City and must overcome some geographic disadvantages when it comes to recruiting, has everything it needs to consistently contend for championships.

That includes a new indoor training facility that just opened next to Bill Snyder Family Stadium, which itself has undergone millions in renovations over the years, putting it in the upper echelon of major college football stadiums.

“Chris has done an unbelievable job building a program in four years that not only has won a Big 12 championship but even more importantly, one that players have taken great pride in and helped sustain a championship culture,” said Kansas State athletic director Gene Taylor, who hired Klieman away from North Dakota State to replace the retired Hall of Fame coach Bill Snyder.

“We want to continue the momentum that he and his staff have fostered,” Taylor said. “We are excited that Chris will be the leader of out football program for many years to come.”

The 55-year-old Klieman won four national titles in five years at North Dakota State, which plays a step down in the Football Championship Subdivision, but many still wondered whether that success would translate to college football's highest level.

Klieman went 8-5 and reached the Liberty Bowl in his first season, slipped to 4-6 during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, and went 8-5 again the following year with a win in the Texas Bowl that provided momentum into last season.

Led by All-American running back Deuce Vaughn and defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah, a first-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs, the Wildcats beat TCU in the Big 12 title game — before the Horned Frogs went on to the College Football Playoffs. It was the first conference title for Kansas State since 2012, when Snyder was in his second tenure in Manhattan, Kansas.

Klieman is 30-20 in four seasons with the Wildcats, while his overall college coaching record of 102-33 puts him among the best winning percentages in history. The 30 wins are the most by a Kansas State coach over their first four years.

Kansas State should contend for another Big 12 championship this season.

In September, the Wichita State University Board of Trustees approved funding for phases 1A and 1B for the capital improvement plan to remake Cessna Stadium into a state-of-the-art home for Wichita State athletics, university and community events and the Kansas State High School Track and Field Championship.

“We are planning to host the KSHSAA Track and Field Championships in Wichita both during, and long after, this renovation project is complete,” Wichita State director of athletics Kevin Saal said.

·&nbsp;Timing of all demolition and renovations will be scheduled to avoid interruption of the Kansas State High School Track and Field Championship in future years.

·&nbsp;Demolition of the east stands of Cessna Stadium will begin immediately after the state track meet this year. Phase 1A begins in the fall with work scheduled to begin on improvements on the east side of the existing track (underground utility work, seating area for approximately 3,600 with a combination of bleacher seats and terraces designed for tents, free-standing field lights, fencing, ticket pavilion, restroom/storage buildings, and plaza).&nbsp;Work is scheduled to be completed before the 2024 Kansas State High School Track and Field Championship.

·&nbsp;The west side of the stadium, capacity around 12,000, will remain standing to allow for continued operation of the Kansas State High School Track and Field Championship. Demolition of the west side of the stadium can begin as early as June 2025.

·&nbsp;Capacity of the stadium, when completed, is planned for approximately 13,500.

·&nbsp;Phase 1B begins after the 2024 Kansas State High School Track and Field Championship and includes widening the field and a 9-lane track. Bleacher seating on the north and south sides of the stadium is included.

·&nbsp;Future phases include a new west stadium structure with seating for more than 6,000. The new west stadium would include a single level of press boxes and viewing decks, offices/locker rooms/team room areas for a future soccer team, as well as restrooms, concessions and storage rooms.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 KSHSAA releases information concerning state track meet

Great Bend High School swim coach Klara Gilbert had May 11 circled on her calendar. Two years ago, Garden City ended Great Bend's run of 17-straight WAC titles. The Lady Panthers took the crown back last year and wanted to keep it that way Thursday in Hays. The two squads swam away from the competition. Great Bend scored 584 points for the win, and Garden City scored 537 points for second. Dodge City scored 346 points for third.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Emilee Hall, Clarise Snapp, Elly Somers, and Josephine Mazouch won perhaps the best race of the day, beating Garden City by 0.01 seconds in 2:00.27. The team of Reggie Huslig, Ava Gregg, Alyvia Mingenback, and Darcy Feist placed third in 2:16.92.

Hall won the WAC title in the 200-yard free by more than a second in 2:15.34. Braylee Carper took the bronze in 2:24.08. Somers finished second in the 200 IM in 2:33.71 to miss the title by eight seconds. Hall won a second title in the 100 back, finishing in 1:05.15 to beat Garden City by three seconds. Huslig finished third in 1:12.62.

Somers collected the gold in the 100 butterfly by nearly a second in 1:08.91. Huslig placed third in 1:20.15, and Mingenback picked up valuable points in fifth in 1:23.57.

Carper brought home the title in the 500 free by six seconds in 6:29.53. Katelyn Mermis placed fourth in 6:40.01 to miss the bronze by 1.2 seconds. Ellie Lutt finished sixth in 7:14.00.

Competition was tough in the 50-yard free. Mazouch missed the state qualifying time by just 0.04 seconds in 26.87 but finished third, just 0.04 seconds behind the silver. Kamryn Johns placed fifth in 28.49, and Sydney Kruckenberg swam sixth in 28.53. Mazouch placed second in the 100 free in 59.70, five seconds off the pace. Johns finished fifth in 1:03.12.

The Lady Panthers had a big day in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of Johns, Snapp, Kruckenberg, and Carper won by nine seconds in 1:54.88. The squad of Feist, Mingenback, Lutt, and Sydney Gilkison finished third in 2:05.18.

The 400-yard freestyle relay saw similar results. The team of Somers, Johns, Mazouch, and Hall won by less than a second in 4:03.22. The relay of Kruckenberg, Lutt, Feist, and Carper swam third in 4:31.22.

Snapp placed third in the 100-yard breast in 1:21.88 to miss the silver by two seconds. Gregg finished fifth in 1:26.75, and Lakyn Caroll picked up 12 points in seventh in 1:29.97.

Lady Panther swimmers edge Garden City for WAC title

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Christian Yelich continued to heat up at the plate and created even more fireworks on the basepaths as he helped the Milwaukee Brewers complete a sweep of the Kansas City Royals.

After homering twice on Saturday, Yelich went deep again Sunday in the Brewers' 9-6 victory. He also hit an RBI single and scored on a bizarre play as part of Milwaukee’s seven-run outburst in the third inning.

Yelich is batting .348 (16 of 46) with four homers and 12 RBIs in May. The 2018 NL MVP hit just .228 with three homers and 11 RBIs in April.

“I'm just making adjustments and just trying to find ways to contribute,” Yelich said. “You're constantly tinkering with things and trying to be the best version of yourself, whatever that is, each day. For me, each day's a new day."

Brice Turang added a three-run shot and Mike Brosseau also homered for the NL Central-leading Brewers.

Kansas City’s Salvador Perez homered for the second straight day, Bobby Witt Jr. had a homer and a two-run double and Hunter Dozier also went deep.

The Royals led 4-1 before it all fell apart for them in the bottom of the third. Yelich was at the center of that rally.

After his RBI single put runners on the corners with nobody out in the third, Yelich attempted to steal second. That’s when things got weird.

Royals shortstop Maikel Garcia missed the throw from Perez, and Joey Wiemer raced home from third as the ball went into the outfield. After sliding into second, Yelich got up and took off for third.

The throw from center fielder Nate Eaton took a couple of bounces, went through Dozier's legs and appeared to bounce off the body of Brewers third-base coach Jason Lane. As the ball started to roll back toward home in foul territory, Yelich headed toward the plate.

Dozier chased down the ball, dove and pushed the ball toward Perez, but his toss couldn’t get there before Yelich slid home safely with the tying run. Garcia and Eaton were charged with errors on the play.

“I don't really think (Eaton's throw) was off line,” Royals manager Matt Quatraro said. “I think it just got hidden behind the runner going second to third, so Dozier couldn't find it. He said as it came out from underneath the runner, he tried to block it and it just got through him, and then obviously it got kicked by the third base coach and it was just a comedy of errors at that point.”

Owen Miller delivered an RBI double later in the inning. Brice Turang capped the rally by sending a 2-2 changeup from Jose Cuas over the center-field wall for a 408-foot blast.

Royals starter Jordan Lyles (0-7) allowed seven runs – all earned – in 2 1/3 innings. Lyles owns a 7.14 ERA in his first season with the Royals, who signed him to a two-year, $17 million contract last December.

Milwaukee's Eric Lauer (4-4) struck out six and allowed two runs, two walks and two hits over 5 1/3 innings in his first relief appearance since 2021. Milwaukee manager Craig Counsell had said Saturday the Brewers would skip Lauer’s next scheduled start.

Lauer, who had lost his last three starts, entered in the fourth and didn't allow a hit until Dozier and Witt homered off him in the ninth.

“Overall it was a good job of kind of what I wanted to go out there and feel as far as just getting on the mound, competing and just kind of letting it loose and not worrying about how long I'm going to be in there and how many pitches I'm going to have to throw,” Lauer said. “It's that bullpen kind of mentality that I have to have. It was a good flip-switch for me.”

Brewers starter Colin Rea allowed four runs in 3 2/3 innings.

whether the 26-year-old right-hander will be out for days, weeks or
months, Black said “probably on the longer end of that.”

assists. Adin Hill finished with 39 saves. Connor McDavid and Warren

(AP) — William Byron avoided a wreck between Ross Chastain and Kyle
Larson on a restart six laps from the end and held on to win the
Goodyear 400 in overtime at Darlington Raceway. Byron was pushed out
of the lead by eventual winner Joey Logano two laps from the end here
a year ago. This time, Byron watched as Chastain and Larson collided,
then drove away from Kevin Harvick for his third win this year and
the seventh of his career. It was the 100th win for the No. 24 car of
Hendrick Motorsports.

— Jason Day has his first PGA Tour victory in five years at the
Byron Nelson. The Australian shot a 9-under 62 for a one-shot victory
over Austin Eckroat and Si Woo Kim. Hometown favorite Scottie
Scheffler finished three shots back. Day broke a tie with Scheffler
with a chip-in birdie at the par-4 12th. Day finished at 23 under
playing on Mother's Day a little more than a year after losing his
mom to cancer. Day's win came the week before the PGA Championship.
The only major among the 35-year-old's 13 victories was the 2015 PGA.

2023 Kansas City Chiefs Schedule

Ranked 7th headed to the final tournament of the season, the Barton Community College women's golf team put together a trio of solid rounds this week to finish 6th at the NJCAA Division I Championships held at Garden City's Buffalo Dunes Golf Course.

The team accomplishment matched the 2019 Cougars' placement on the national stage and the 6th time in program history within the top ten placings.

Barton opened the four days of competition with a field first round 3rd best 311 card, climbing back up the board from ninth following a disappointing second round 322 by recouping with another pair of sold rounds of 310 and 312.

Finishing at 103-over 1255, the Cougars bettered the previous program 4-round national tournament best by 101 strokes than the 9th place 2018 season's team.

The tournament team leaderboard had Barton one shot from tying McLennan Community College and just twelve strokes from 4th place Odessa College's 1246. Seminole State College (FL) ran away with a twenty-two stroke victory at a 1201 total for their fourth straight title, Daytona State Collège in second at 1223, and Western Texas Community College placing third at 1232.

For the first time in program history, the Cougars had two in the top eighteen of the national tournament, Yu Wi Chiang tying for 9th with Saya Schweitzer at 14th overall. Following tie break procedures, Chiang was awarded the 11th position for 2nd team All-America honors finishing at 18-over 306 while Schweitzer's 21-over 309 earned Honorable Mention All-America distinction.

The pair are the 4th and 5th in program history under Head Coach Doug Kaiser, the first since Peerada Piddon's consecutive honors in 2016 and 2017 and join Natthakan Teeratrakul' honor in 2014.

Chiang finished day one in 15th place with a 5-over 77, carded consecutive 75 rounds to move into 5th before a closing round of 79 dropped the University of Cincinnati signee four spots to 9th overall of the 86-competitor field.

Schweitzer consistent trio of 79 rounds moved the freshman from 24th to 29th going into the final round, firing an even par 72 on Friday to vault up the board fifteen spots to 14th.

Inmee hovered around the +8 mark in her four rounds, carding and 81 and 80 with Thursday's 78 round helping Barton close the gap up the leaderboard before winding up her Barton career with another 80.The first time on the big stage didn't phase Valentina Leyva as the freshman's debut 2-over par stood sixth on the day one leaderboard. Along with the rest of the Cougars, day two wasn't as kind as 88 took a tumble on the list to 38th.
