David Neifert, 64, was born February 21, 1957, to Keith and Audrey (Porter) Neifert, at Beloit, KS. He departed this life, April 19, 2021, after a constant battle of health issues. He grew up on a farm south of Glen Elder, KS, along with two sisters and a brother. He was a member of Friends Church and had accepted Christ as his Saviour at a young age. He left home to farm on his own and lived on his granddad’s land near Ionia, KS. During this time, he met the love of his life, Kim and they were married October 10, 1981. They made their home by Ionia and then later Glen Elder. To this union was born, a son, Dane and a daughter, Alecia. Later on he worked at the elevator in Glen Elder and then in Jewel, KS. In 1995, he moved his family to Stafford county, KS, where worked at the Radium Coop, running a spray rig and then eventually managing the fertilizer department there. In 2002, he had to retire due to his disability. In 2006, he earned an Associate’s Degree in Technical Accounting and did bookkeeping for D&amp;M Marketing.&nbsp;

Dave took pride in his work and being able to provide for his family. He loved coyote hunting with his beloved greyhounds and later with just a rifle. His hobbies included playing poker, collecting guns, knives, Budweiser holiday mugs, and spending time with his pets. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and his most favorite thing of all was being a Papa to his four grandchildren.&nbsp;

His sense of humor and ornery streak gave him the ability to deal with all of the obstacles life threw at him, including two below the knee amputations and a below the elbow amputation and numerous health issues. He was a courageous fighter and never gave up. He was our hero. He was a very loyal person and he loved his family with his whole heart.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Janila Smith and Wanda Dunn. He leaves to mourn his wife, Kim Neifert of the home; a son, Dane Neifert of Salina, KS; a daughter, Alecia Keenan and son in law, Jared of Hoisington, KS; four grandchildren, Aubrey, Ayla, Jace and Jatyn; a brother, Dennis Neifert and his wife Carrie of Liberal, KS; his in laws, Ed and Frances Doak of Alva, OK; two brothers in law, David Dunn of Haysville, KS, and Perry Doak and life partner Diana Chavez of Fallbrook, CA; 4 nieces and their families; and many other friends and family members.&nbsp;

Visitation will be held from Noon to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, April 22, 2021, at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 23, 2021, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Larry Schumacher presiding.  N. Redman was born on December 14, 1968, in Great Bend, Kansas, to Robert
 and Beverly (McNerney) Redman and passed away on April 9, 2021, in 
Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 52 years, 3 months and 26 days. Robert 
attended school in WaKeeney, Kansas and later at the Youthville facility
 in Dodge City, KS.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Robert
 worked at several jobs, but he was the happiest when he was building 
pallets through a program at Youthville.&nbsp; He later relocated to Hays, 
Kansas to be near his mom and sister’s family where he worked at 
Schilleci's Deli and Best Radiator Shop.&nbsp; He had such admiration for his
 employers who always treated him with kindness. Robert had a memory of 
an elephant. If he went somewhere, he always remembered the address from 
that time forth. You never got lost with Robert in the car. He 
remembered everybody's birthdays and phone numbers as well and he could 
recite them off the top of his head.&nbsp;

At
 the time of his mother's death, Robert moved to the Lincoln, Nebraska,&nbsp; area to be closer to his sisters and their families for the remainder of
 his life.

 was preceded&nbsp;in death by his mother and father, Beverly (McNerney) and 
Robert Redman; sister, Leslie (Redman) Calvin; his maternal

Christie Callaway, 63, died April 15, 2021, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. She was born January 17, 1958, in Hoisington, Kansas, the daughter of David and Freida L. (Herbel) Callaway. Christie graduated from Hoisington High School in 1976 and later received her nursing degree from Kansas University.

She is survived by: two children; David Bockman and wife Roda of Springfield, Missouri, and Ammie Bockman and significant other Shane Keys of Forsyth, Missouri; a sister, Valarie Knight and husband Jerry of Ozark, Missouri; and an aunt, Jeanette Smith of Hoisington.  She was lovingly known as “Gigi” to her three grandchildren, Bralynn, Ella, and Ezra. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Freida Callaway.

Visitation will be 12 noon to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home, with family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.  Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Thursday, April 22, 2021, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Hoisington, with Rev. Wayne Baldyga presiding.  Burial will follow in Hoisington Cemetery.

Burdett – Jason Scott Clapham, 41, passed away April 16, 2021 at his home in Burdett.&nbsp;

He was born June 27, 1979 in Great Bend, the son of David E. and Cathreen “Cathi” A. Rainbolt Clapham.

Growing up in Larned, he was a graduate of the Pawnee Heights High School class of 1998. He later moved to Texas where he graduated with honors from Christ for the Nations Institute and Universal Technical Institute with an associate degree in Automotive Technology. Returning to Burdett in 2016, he was a mechanic for Schwartz Auto Service in Jetmore. He was of the Christian faith, and enjoyed building model cars, watching Nascar, and shooting guns.

On March 10, 2007 he married Sarah M. Darby in Cedar Hill, Texas; they later divorced.

Survivors include: his parents, David and Cathi Clapham, Burdett; three sons, David Eric Clapham, Huntsville, Texas, Christian Matthew Clapham, Burdett; Joshua, Nathaniel Clapham, Jetmore; a daughter, Katherine Ann Clapham, Jetmore; two brothers, Christopher David Clapham, Kansas City, Missouri, Aaron Phillip Clapham, Burdett; two sisters, Andrea (David) Ramirez, Shawnee, Sara Renea (Micheal Miller) Clapham, Emporia; and fiancé, Summer Leiby, Jetmore.

GREAT BEND - Lance Walters, age 69, passed away November 24, 2020. Lance was born on February 14, 1951, in Manhattan, Kansas to Lloyd “Dutch” and Jan (McDonald) Walters. He married Pam Weigel and they later divorced. He then married Sandy Demel on September 25, 1987, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend, Kansas.

Lance lived most of his life in Great Bend, Kansas. He owned and operated McDonald Tank &amp; Equipment, Inc. He began working there as a field hand on May 14, 1973. He worked his way up and then took over the business from his grandfather. Lance enjoyed working and anything outdoors, including riding the sand dunes, golfing and spending time at the lake.&nbsp;

Survivors include, his wife, Sandy Walters of the home; a daughter, Jessica Walters, a son, Kory Walters, and a grandson, Oren Walters, all of Great Bend; two brothers, Greg Walters and wife Gail of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, and John Hill and wife Julie of Olathe, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Randy Walters.&nbsp;

Joan Marie Demel, 86, passed away April 12, 2021, at her home in Great Bend. She was born December 14, 1934, at Great Bend, to Ewald &amp; Rose (Schwartz) Kuhlman. She married Anthony Aloysius Demel on December 26, 1957, at Olmitz. He died July 10, 2004.

A lifetime Barton county resident, Joan grew up in Albert. She lived in Hoisington from 1960 to 1968 before moving to Great Bend. Joan was a homemaker and also a teacher in rural Barton County and several area Catholic schools until the late 1960’s. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, the Altar Society and a former 4-H leader. She loved to garden and fish. Joan especially loved spending time with her family, her kitty Mitzi, chickens and guineas. 

Survivors include, two sons, Tim Demel of Olmitz and Terry Demel and wife Vickie of Richland, Mo.; a daughter, Judy Demel and significant other Bruce Lawrence of Great Bend; a brother, Francis Kuhlman of Canyon Lake, Calif.; 8 grandchildren, Rebekah Graham (Chris), Alethea Ashbaugh, Joe Ashbaugh (Kyleen), Catie Demel (John Montgomery), Kristen Beakley (Cameron), Melissa Demel, Matthew Demel and Jonathan Demel; 14 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Anthony Demel; and a sister and brother in law, Marian and James Rajewski.

Joan Marie Demel

Donna Lee McAllaster, 90, passed away April 14, 2021, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Wichita. She was born January 20, 1931, at a small farm on the banks of Turkey Creek in Gosper County, Neb. to Loyal R. &amp; Mabel (Stump) Rhodes. Times on the farm were rough during the Great Depression, but they felt fortunate to always have milk, eggs, garden produce, and chickens. She learned to sew using the fabric from flour sacks.

By the time she graduated from High School, she had enough hoeing, weeding, hauling feed, milking, riding farm equipment, and plucking chickens to last a lifetime.  She taught school for a year in a one-room schoolhouse, with no running water and a wood stove for heat. She later said that was the biggest challenge she ever had. 

The next year she married a skinny pre-med student from western Kansas named Wendale E. McAllaster January 28, 1950 at her family home.  She soon had more challenges, running the household and raising children among the demands of his surgical practice.  They had a loving partnership for over 50 years.  He died October 18, 2015.

A Great Bend resident since 1962, Donna was a homemaker, property manager, and volunteer.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church, PEO, Progress Study Club, Barton County Alliance, Threadbenders Quilt Club, and Community Concert Board.   She served as a Camp Fire and Cub Scout Leader, and driver for Meals on Wheels.  Donna loved to quilt and sing with The Creatures of Habit. 

Her greatest challenge really came after she no longer had the words to describe it.  She negotiated the many disorientations and frustrations of Alzheimer’s with grace and dignity.  She remained a kind and gentle soul with an iron backbone to the end, and loved her God and her family well.  May her next chapter be a just reward.

Survivors include, two sons, Charles M. McAllaster of Longmont, Colo. and James W. McAllaster of Garden City; four daughters, Nancy J. Champion and husband Tom of Shelby Township, Mich., Claudia McAllaster of Leavenworth, Paula A. McAllaster of Wichita and Tammy Ellison and husband Elton of Leland, NC; a sister, Joan M. Burnham of Olathe; three grandchildren, Nick Wilkoff and wife Sun, Anna Jochum and husband Eric and Luke Feil and wife Christa; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dr. Wendale E. McAllaster; and her brother, Doran L. Rhodes.

Deborah was a resident of Great Bend from 1982 to 2000, before moving to Neodesha. She was a housekeeper for Holiday Inn Express. She enjoyed fishing but especially loved spending time with her family and friends.&nbsp;

born March 5, 1955, in Great Bend, KS to Bruce &amp; Florence (Corrigan)
Walter. He graduated from Kingman High School and was employed at Larned State
Hospital. He enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling.

He
married Robin Matthews and they were blessed with one daughter, Pamela Jean.
After Robin’s untimely death in January 1980, he married Cheri Rae (Greenleaf)
Degenhardt, June 25, 1982, and gained two daughters, Tamra Michelle and Melissa
Dawn. 

Survivors
include, three daughters, Pamela Cooper and husband Pat, Tami Johns, and
Melissa Crawford and husband James; five grandchildren, William Dixon, Seth
Choyce, Kamryn Johns, Khloe Johns and Gavin Crawford; two brothers, David
Walter and his wife Catherine and Jeff Walter; two sisters, Robin Pinkerton and
her husband Jerry, and Sharon Locke; and many nieces and nephews. He was
preceded in death by his first wife, Robin Matthews Walter; his current wife,

passed away April 10, 2021, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born
November 26, 1961, in Wichita, Kansas to Wendell &amp; Carolyn Sue (Beal)

Bend Noon Lions Club, and served as treasurer for the Kansas Correctional
Association, and was a graduate of the Kansas Department of Corrections
Leadership Development Academy, and the Great Bend Leadership Conference. John
enjoyed golf, traveling, and family vacations. John also held a passion for
planes and aviation, and had obtained his pilots license. He was an avid KU fan
and loved spending his time outdoors. John especially loved spending time with his
children. 

John is survived by his wife,
Lenora Lampe of the home; one son, Cameron Lampe of Shoreview, MN; one
daughter, Taylor Lampe and fiancé Drew Fitzgerald of Lawrence; a sister, Kerry
J. Lampe of Great Bend; a step-sister Jill Herald of Denver, CO; a
step-brother, Bruce Huss and wife Karen of Wichita. He was proceeded in death
by his father, Wendell Lampe; and his mother and stepfather, Carolyn and O.W.
Huss. 

Visitation will be held from
1:00 to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Bryant Funeral home, with family
to receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10:30
a.m., Monday, April 19, 2021, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Great Bend, with
Pastor Barbara Jones and Reverend Dick Ogle presiding. Interment will be in the

John Randall Lampe

On April
11, 2021 Elmer Louis Reiser, 94, left this world a very blessed man. &nbsp;He
was born on a farm near Hudson on August 4, 1926. &nbsp;His mother, Francis
(Krkosska) Reiser, was a strong German woman and his father, Louis Reiser, a
hard-working mechanic and farmer. &nbsp;He had an older brother Alois, and
sister Jennie. &nbsp;He was followed by three brothers, Ralph, Rudy and Larry.
&nbsp;Oh the stories he told about their shenanigans. He was proud that they
always had each other’s back. One memory that he always told through tear
filled eyes is of the last time he saw his oldest brother Alois. &nbsp;He
remembers Alois looking back at the farm as he left to serve in World War 11,
where he later lost his life. He was also quick to tell how hard they worked on
the farm, milking cows, feeding cattle, shucking corn and hauling water through
the snow.

After
attending High School in Hudson, Kansas he moved to Great Bend and worked for
Furrey Tire Company. &nbsp;He met the love of his life, Laura Jane Dolezal at
her brother, Ralph Dolezal’s wedding. &nbsp;They were married on May 16, 1950.
&nbsp;In 1952, he was drafted into the Navy. After his service, he took a job
at Merring Son Gas Station and helped his dad farm in Stafford County. Elmer
then went to work at Spruill Motors for the next twelve years. &nbsp;He then
opened his own mechanic shop “Reiser Auto and Truck Service” on West 10th
Street and for 20 years built a reputation as a dependable honest mechanic.
&nbsp;In fact, he did many small jobs and when asked what was owed, his
response was “Just buy me a cup of coffee someday”.

He enjoyed
bowling, golfing, horseshoes, playing cards and traveling. One of his favorite
stories was when he and Laura went on a month-long vacation with Ralph and
Eloise Dolezal to explore NE United States. He soon realized that vacationing
in New York was more expensive than the Midwest and had to call Farmers Bank to
have money wired to travel home. &nbsp;Not only did he live a blessed and near
perfect life, he experienced that as well on the golf course and bowling alley
with a hole in one and a 298 bowling score. &nbsp;He was a member of The
American Legion, The American Bowling Congress and a former member of The
Knights of Columbus.

Elmer
spent the last months of his life reminiscing about his friends he made during
his 94 years. &nbsp;His obituary wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the
following: Leo Alexander, Eugene Bugner, Melvin Dreher, Marvin Dunn, Jack
Durbin, Elton Fischer, Wayne Fischer, Bob Gunn, Jack Hillman, Bob Hipp, Lee
Hopkins, Marvin Karst, Les Johnson, Paul Linenberger, Virgil Maser, Lonnie
McDonald, Bob Olivier, Arlon Postlethwaite, Alvin Reiser, Dennis Reiser, Howard
Reiser, Norman Reiser, Carl Ringwald, Arthur Rose, William Rose, Greg Schenk,
Silvester Swager, Paul Ueckert, Claude Vink, Larry Vink, Melvin Vink, Jim
Weisner, Prentise Weltmer, Paul Wooster, and Joe Zecha, &nbsp;Although there
were more friends and cousins he cherished, these are just some of the names
his family remembers while reminiscing.

His family
meant everything to him. His kids and grandkids will attest to never leaving
his presence without being told that he loved them and was proud of them.
&nbsp;

Elmer is
survived by his wife of 70 years of the home, son Douglas Reiser (RoxAnn),
daughters Cathy Anderson (Randy), Renee Buntain (Darren) and son-in-law David
Huslig. &nbsp; He is also survived and deeply loved by 6 grandchildren, Amber
Anderson, Rollie Anderson (Denise), Wyatt Huslig (Jessica Milsap), Kayci
Huslig, Jordyn Southard (Kris) and Chase Buntain, four great-grand- children, Brooklyn
Reynolds, Finnley and Clare Anderson, Callan Southard and many nieces and
nephews. &nbsp;

Eight
years ago he lost his daughter Cindy (Huslig) to cancer and looked forward to
reuniting with her. &nbsp;He was also proceeded in death by his parents, and
four brothers Alois Reiser, Ralph Reiser, Rudy Reiser, Larry Reiser, and one
sister Jennie Ueckert.

Elmer will be missed but his legacy of honor, principles, work ethic and
caring about his friends and family will live on. &nbsp;

Mass of
Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 15, 2021, at St. Patrick
Catholic Church in Great Bend, with Father Don Bedore presiding.&nbsp; Interment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery.&nbsp; Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday,

Thelma J. Cates, 94, died
April 11, 2021, at Country Place Senior Living, Hoisington, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born June 18, 1926, to Andrew and
Millie (Deel) Gower in Shamrock, Oklahoma.

On December 18, 1945, she
married Vivan Cates inWinfield, Kansas.&nbsp;
They were married for 55 years, he passed away in 2001.&nbsp; They settled in Claflin in 1954 where she was
a Sunday schoool teacher and the church pianist for the First Southern Baptist
Church.

She and Vivan had 6 sons and
2 daughters; the late, Don (Ginger) Cates of Wichita, the late, infant
daughter, Deborah Ann Cates, Bruce (Craig) Cates of New Braunfels, Texas, Ray
(Becky) Cates of Haslet, Texas, Bob (Alvita) Cates of Claflin, Steven (Susan)
Cates of Emporia, Myra (Mike) Prosser of Claflin, and Barry (Kelly) Cates of
Guyton, Georgia. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 45
great-grandchildren and with one on the way, and 14 great-great-grandchildren;
a sister, Barbara McDowell and husband Mike of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and
four sisters-in law, Lorene Franklin, Sylvia Meyerdirk, Opal Gayhart and Connie
Goin.

She was preceded in death by
her parents, husband, son and an infant daughter; two grandsons, Michael Travis
Cates and Trevor Cates; brothers, Raymond and Glen Gowers; and sisters, Frances
Woolverton, Norma Jean Woodsend, Ruthie Costanza, Louise Steinert, and Wanda
Harford. 

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to
8 p.m. Wednesday, with family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral

On December 29, 1962, she
married Alan Kent Oeser in Claflin, Kansas. He preceded her in death on
February 27, 2020.

A lifetime Claflin resident,
Sheila was a much loved teacher, teaching for over 40 years.&nbsp; She started teaching in Lenexa, Kansas, but
soon moved back home to Claflin where she taught for five years at the Immaculate
Conception Parochial School and then from 1972 to 1999 teaching Kindergarten,
First Grade and Elementary Music at Claflin Public School.&nbsp; 

She was a member of the
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Altar Society.&nbsp; 

She is survived by three
children; daughter, Allison Layne of Kiefer, Oklahoma; sons, Phillip Oeser and
Jon Oeser and wife Jane, all of Claflin; daughter-in-law, Debbie Oeser of
Claflin; sister, Camille Haro and husband David of Sun City, Florida; seven
grandchildren, Jordan Keenan &amp; wife Nicole, Chandler Keenan, Bethany White
and husband Seth, Taylor Oeser, Lawson Oeser, Lexi Oeser, and Lauren Oeser;
three step grandchildren, Kristi Nixon, Kari VanPelt and husband Dae, and Kylie
Crawford and husband Rick; one great grandchild, Easton Keenan; and eleven
step-great grandchildren, Kaleb, Kassidy, and Kambree Nixon, Deagan , Jayln,
Camryn, and Ian VanPelt, Kylie Marie, Ellie Mae, Kobe, and Rilynn Crawford.

She was preceded in death by
her parents, husband, and a son, Christopher Alan Oeser. 

Visitation will be from 9
a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Family will greet friends from 6 to
8 p.m., with Vigil and Rosary to begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday all at Immaculate
Conception Catholic Church. Claflin, Kansas.

Mass of Christian Burial will
be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at Immaculate Conception Catholic
Church, celebrated by Father Terrance Klein. Burial will follow in Claflin
Cemetery.

J. Blake, 86, passed away April 9, 2021 at The University of Kansas Health
Systems, Pawnee Valley Campus, Larned.

She was born December 8, 1934 in Larned; the daughter
of Harold and Lois Balman Arnold.&nbsp; A
lifetime area resident; she was a farm wife.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Rozel,
the American Baptist Women, enjoyed helping her daughter Debra with preschool,
vacation bible school and being a Sunday school teacher.

On July 21, 1953 she married G. Leonard Blake in
Rozel.&nbsp; He survives.

Other survivors include; three sons, Dennis (Nancy)
Blake, Hazelton, Randal (Julia) Blake, Larned, Jerel (Robert) Blake, Lenexa; a
daughter, Debra (Ritch) Foos, Rozel; eleven grandchildren and 24 great
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy
Knudson and Wilma Smith.

Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at Beckwith Mortuary
Chapel with Grandson Pastor Travis Blake presiding.&nbsp; Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Thursday at the mortuary with family present from 6-8 p.m.&nbsp; Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery,

Anita Sharon
Helms, 70, passed away April 10, 2021, at her home in Great Bend. She was born
June 29, 1950, at Los Angeles, Calif., to Pete &amp; Bonnie (Hall) McKenna.

Anita was a
retired home care worker. She attended Prince of Peace Parish. She enjoyed
playing bingo, sewing, baking, and especially loved spending time with her
family. Anita was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and
aunt. 

Survivors
include, two daughters, Deborah Hinds of Great Bend and Patricia (Troy)
Satterlee of Manhattan; a son, Cody (Mercedes) Helms of Great Bend; seven
grandchildren, Dalin Hinds, Jordan Becker, Walter Helms, Jacob Satterlee,
Nikalem Helms, Madison Crawford and Rylan Crawford; and three great
grandchildren, Wesley Becker, Grayson Becker and Persephone Leiker. She was
preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Bonnie McKenna; and a twin sister,
Bonita Mead. 

There will
be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at
2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 1, 2021, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with
Father Don Bedore presiding. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorials

Anita Sharon Helms

Harry Hugh Adams died April 6, 2021 at
95 years of age surrounded by loved ones.&nbsp;
He was born August 6, 1925 to Ray “Roy” J. and Gladys Goldie (McCarty)
Adams.&nbsp; His sister and brothers were
Gussie “Louise” Adams Estabrook, Edwin Birdene “Bud” Adams, Willard Eugene
“Gene” Adams, Earl Ray “Tex” Adams, John Glenn Adams, Frederick “Merle” Adams,
Billie LaDon “Don” Adams. All have preceded him in death.

A veteran of World War II, Harry joined
the army September 1943 shortly after his 18th birthday and was assigned as a
gunner in Patton's 80th infantry division.&nbsp; After being wounded by
artillery shrapnel during the Battle of the Bulge, he recovered and returned to
the front line.&nbsp; This second assignment ended when his feet froze after a
night crossing of the Or River on Christmas Eve 1944. He spent the remainder of
the war recovering in a hospital in Britain.

Harry returned home from the war and on
October 11, 1946 he married the love of his life, Barbara Beth Bryant.&nbsp; They were married 69 years and delighted in
their children - and ESPECIALLY delighted in their 9 grandchildren, 18 great
grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.&nbsp;
Each child had their own special relationship with them as did their
numerous nephews and nieces. He loved his family/ extended family. Barbara
preceded him in death and he greatly missed her every day.

Harry worked in the oil fields - his
work ethic was stellar.&nbsp; His vast
experience in many different positions/roles, jobs, and locations afforded him
countless work related friends and acquaintances.&nbsp; He finally totally retired at 85 years of
age.

Growing tomatoes and other vegetables
was one of his great passions.&nbsp; He had a
huge garden every year, loved hearing about your garden, offered advice for
your garden failures, celebrated your garden successes, and gave away most of
what he grew.&nbsp; 

Cards and domino playing were spirited
affairs. If you were his partner in card games, you had better be on your toes
and paying attention.&nbsp; 

He loved to drive and drove all over –
especially enjoyed driving around the Chase, Kansas areas where he grew
up.&nbsp; He taught many grandchildren how to
drive on country and county roads – way before they were of age.&nbsp; During these times he imparted his wisdom and
told his childhood and oil field work stories to help guide them on their paths
in life.&nbsp; 

After retiring and before covid was an
issue, he went to coffee most every day.&nbsp;
There he connected with new and old friends of various ages from all
walks of life.&nbsp; Business establishments
in surrounding areas that he frequented knew his name and greeted him when he
walked in the door. 

Harry had “a thousand” whimsical words,
sayings, and songs that would make you smile or laugh out loud – that is if you
were able to understand his “Adams-Language” and keep up with his rapid fire
speech.&nbsp; He enjoyed working hard
(“getting powerful”) and had clever ideas (“cowboy tricks” and “franthanies”).&nbsp; If you met him, you’ll never forget him.&nbsp; 

It would be hard to talk about Harry
without mentioning his faith in Jesus Christ.&nbsp;
He had promised God if he survived the war he would attend church and
dragged all 4 kids to church every Sunday for many years.&nbsp; He read his bible and prayed daily for
others.&nbsp; He started his prayers with
“Dear God, we are grateful for this day.”

Harry was also preceded in death by his
grandson Kyle Tomey and son-in-law Alex Ybarra.&nbsp;
He is survived by his children ~Kent Adams (Sharon Ochs) – Hutchinson,
Brenda Ybarra – Mound Valley, Lynn Adams (Ann) – Bison, and Gale Adams Briscoe
(Ron Briscoe) – Wichita. 

Visitation for friends and relatives wishing to pay their respects will be Tuesday, April 13th from noon to 9 p.m.

 </figure>DATELINE – Great Bend, KansasHarry Hugh Adams died April 6, 2021 at
95 years of age surrounded by loved ones.&nbsp;
He was born August 6, 1925 to Ray “Roy” J. and Gladys Goldie (McCarty)
Adams.&nbsp; His sister and brothers were
Gussie “Louise” Adams Estabrook, Edwin Birdene “Bud” Adams, Willard Eugene
“Gene” Adams, Earl Ray “Tex” Adams, John Glenn Adams, Frederick “Merle” Adams,
Billie LaDon “Don” Adams. All have preceded him in death.A veteran of World War II, Harry joined
the army September 1943 shortly after his 18th birthday and was assigned as a
gunner in Patton's 80th infantry division.&nbsp; After being wounded by
artillery shrapnel during the Battle of the Bulge, he recovered and returned to
the front line.&nbsp; This second assignment ended when his feet froze after a
night crossing of the Or River on Christmas Eve 1944. He spent the remainder of
the war recovering in a hospital in Britain.Harry returned home from the war and on
October 11, 1946 he married the love of his life, Barbara Beth Bryant.&nbsp; They were married 69 years and delighted in
their children - and ESPECIALLY delighted in their 9 grandchildren, 18 great
grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.&nbsp;
Each child had their own special relationship with them as did their
numerous nephews and nieces. He loved his family/ extended family. Barbara
preceded him in death and he greatly missed her every day.Harry worked in the oil fields - his
work ethic was stellar.&nbsp; His vast
experience in many different positions/roles, jobs, and locations afforded him
countless work related friends and acquaintances.&nbsp; He finally totally retired at 85 years of
age.Growing tomatoes and other vegetables
was one of his great passions.&nbsp; He had a
huge garden every year, loved hearing about your garden, offered advice for
your garden failures, celebrated your garden successes, and gave away most of
what he grew.&nbsp; Cards and domino playing were spirited
affairs. If you were his partner in card games, you had better be on your toes
and paying attention.&nbsp; He loved to drive and drove all over –
especially enjoyed driving around the Chase, Kansas areas where he grew
up.&nbsp; He taught many grandchildren how to
drive on country and county roads – way before they were of age.&nbsp; During these times he imparted his wisdom and
told his childhood and oil field work stories to help guide them on their paths
in life.&nbsp; After retiring and before covid was an
issue, he went to coffee most every day.&nbsp;
There he connected with new and old friends of various ages from all
walks of life.&nbsp; Business establishments
in surrounding areas that he frequented knew his name and greeted him when he
walked in the door. Harry had “a thousand” whimsical words,
sayings, and songs that would make you smile or laugh out loud – that is if you
were able to understand his “Adams-Language” and keep up with his rapid fire
speech.&nbsp; He enjoyed working hard
(“getting powerful”) and had clever ideas (“cowboy tricks” and “franthanies”).&nbsp; If you met him, you’ll never forget him.&nbsp; It would be hard to talk about Harry
without mentioning his faith in Jesus Christ.&nbsp;
He had promised God if he survived the war he would attend church and
dragged all 4 kids to church every Sunday for many years.&nbsp; He read his bible and prayed daily for
others.&nbsp; He started his prayers with
“Dear God, we are grateful for this day.”Harry was also preceded in death by his
grandson Kyle Tomey and son-in-law Alex Ybarra.&nbsp;
He is survived by his children ~Kent Adams (Sharon Ochs) – Hutchinson,
Brenda Ybarra – Mound Valley, Lynn Adams (Ann) – Bison, and Gale Adams Briscoe
(Ron Briscoe) – Wichita. Visitation for friends and relatives wishing to pay their respects will be Tuesday, April 13th from noon to 9 p.m.

Kaiser, 82, passed away April 7, 2021, at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood. She
was born on October 26, 1938, in Henderson, KY, to Earnest and Alvera (Cook)
Fisher. She married Donald Peter Kaiser on May 10, 1958, in Great Bend.&nbsp; He died May 7, 2009.

A lifetime
Great Bend resident, Anna was a housekeeper for Best Western and Larned State
Hospital, previously working at Rexall Drug. She was a member of Prince of
Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She
enjoyed playing bingo, cooking, baking and attending craft shows. 

Survivors
include, two sons, Dale Kaiser (Aimee Johnston) of Kansas City, KS, and Devin
Kaiser and wife&nbsp; Kristie of Hoisington; a
daughter, Donna Fisher and husband Rik of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister,
Trudy Richardson of Great Bend; and three grandchildren, Mackenzie Kaiser,
Trevor Kaiser and Anneka Fisher. She was preceded in death by her parents; her
husband, Donald Kaiser; and a sister, Lois Befort.&nbsp; 

Visitation
will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday, April 12, 2021, at Bryant Funeral
Home, with Altar Society Rosary at 4:00 p.m., and Vigil service with Rosary at
7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April
13, 2021, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church,
with Father Don Bedore presiding. Interment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery.

Vera Kruckenberg, 92, passed away
peacefully in her home on April 8, 2021, in Great Bend, KS. Vera was born to
Harold and Mabel (Gibson) Easley on July 22, 1928, in rural Greenwood County,
KS, and spent most of her years growing up in Lyons, KS. After graduating from
High School, she moved to Great Bend to work at Wadell Electric Company.

On September 12, 1948, she was joined
in marriage to Kenneth Kruckenberg. The couple moved to his family farm west of
Great Bend where they lived until his early death in 1969.

Vera then moved into Great Bend and
worked for Barton County in both the Treasurer’s Office and Appraiser’s Office
until her retirement. She was a strong woman as she continued to do a wonderful
job raising her three children. 

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran
Church, an avid Royals fan and enjoyed watching “Jeopardy” and “Wheel of
Fortune”.

She is survived by her three children:
Connie Karlin, Great Bend, Sherry Keil (Larry), Durango, CO, and Jay
Kruckenberg (Suzy), Mooreland, OK; six grandchildren; 2 great-granddaughters;
and a sister, Phyllis Gantz, Omaha, NE. She was preceded in death by her
parents; three brothers; her husband, Kenny; and her long-time friend and
companion, Rodger Rowland who brought years of happiness to her life.

Visitation will be at Bryant Funeral
Home on Sunday, April 11, 2021, from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m., with the family
receiving friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. that evening. A graveside service will
be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 12, 2021, at the Great Bend Cemetery, with
Pastor Barbara Jones officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests
memorials to Golden Belt Home Health &amp; Hospice, in care of the funeral
home.

Brozek for his many years of care and Vera’s caregiver, Falisha Simpson for the
exceptional and compassionate care she gave to Vera over the past year, which
allowed Vera to remain in her home.

Eileen Kershner, 99, passed away April 7, 2021, at Brookdale Senior Living,
Great Bend.&nbsp; She was born March 17, 1922,
in Alexander, Kansas, to Rudolph and Laura (Mitchell) Kueffer.&nbsp; She married George Junior Kershner December
7, 1941, at her parents’ home in Alexander.&nbsp;
George passed away June 24, 2010.&nbsp;
Marjorie was a graduate of Alexander High School and later graduated
from the Wichita School of Cosmetology.

She was an
active member of the King United Methodist Church, where she had been a member
of the choir, a children’s Sunday school teacher and a member of the United
Methodist Women.&nbsp; Marjorie enjoyed making
crafts, quilts and gardening.

Survivors
include her daughters; Jann Sherman and husband Dennis of Great Bend, and
Susanne Price of Wichita; three grandchildren; Julia Davis of Wichita, Kan.,
Jill Sherman of Manhattan, Kan., and Todd Sherman and wife Emily of Olathe,
Kan.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was
preceded in passing by her husband, George; sisters, Delores Schwartzkopf and
husband Carl, and Winnifred Rappa and husband Frank. 

Funeral
services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Bryant Funeral Home, Great
Bend, with Pastor Morita Truman presiding.&nbsp;
Interment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery, Great Bend.&nbsp; Visitation will be Noon to 9:00 p.m. Friday,
