Larned&nbsp; - Herbert E. Kier, 64, passed away, July 25,
2020, at his home, Larned.

He was born
October 8, 1955 in Ness City, Kansas; the son of Richard Lee and Laberta Lee
Brown.&nbsp; A Larned resident since 1988,
moving from Norton; he was a Licensed Mental Health Technician at the Larned
State Hospital.

Herb graduated
from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa.&nbsp;&nbsp; He worked in the family owned welding shop,
Kiers Welding in Benkleman, Nebraska.&nbsp; He
liked riding motorcycles and taking trips to Colorado and Missouri to
motorcycle rallies and vacationing with friends. He loved getting together and
shootin’ the bull and reminiscing with family and friends. He enjoyed working
with his staff members at the Larned State Hospital. He enjoyed his computer
and spending time researching and keeping in touch with friends. 

Survivors
include; two brothers, Kenneth and Shirley Kier, Clarksville, Arkansas and
Robert and Karen Kier, Hershey, Nebraska; a sister, Judy Baney, North Platte,
Nebraska; a step-mother, Mary J. Kier, Imperial, Nebraska; step-sister,
Jennifer Kier, Madrid, Nebraska; many nieces and nephews; and numerous good friends.

Cremation has
taken place and no services are planned at this time.

Espinosa, 70, passed away July 22, 2020, at Hays Medical Center, Hays. He was
born on June 2, 1950, at Great Bend, to Jose &amp; Natalia (Ramirez) Espinosa.
He married Barbara Clements on October 2, 1982, at Great Bend. She survives.

A lifetime
Great Bend resident, Jess was a construction worker. He was a member of the
Eagles, Bikers of Central Kansas, and Big Bend Lake. He liked fishing and
watching westerns but especially enjoyed being with his family and
grandchildren. 

Survivors
include, his wife Barbara Espinosa of the home; two sons, James Pattinson and
girlfriend Denise, and Joseph Pattinson and girlfriend Jennifer, all of Hutch;
two daughters, Anita Stringos and husband George of Arlington, and Kathy Pattinson
of Wichita; six brothers, Lawrence Espinosa, Joe Espinosa, Bobby Espinosa,
Oscar Espinosa, and Butch Espinosa, all of Great Bend, and Gilbert Espinosa of
Springfield, Mo; two sisters, Lali Simõn of Manhattan, and Jane Stejskal of
Texas; 17 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren;&nbsp;
and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his
parents; and two sons, Jerrod Espinosa and Joe Chay Espinosa.

Baird, 63, passed away Friday July 24, 2020, at Wheatland Health Care in
Kingman. She was born May 2, 1957, in Great Bend the daughter of W.E. and
Theresa (Herrman) Lewis. She married Robert Baird November 15, 1987 in Great
Bend. He passed away September 13, 2010.

Betty has
been a resident of Kingman for three years coming from Pratt. She was a
bookkeeper for Nicholas Water Service. Betty was a member of American Legion
Auxiliary in Pratt and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie Auxiliay and the Elks
Lodge in Pratt. She enjoyed being outside gardening and fishing. She loved
spending time with her family especially the grandchildren.

Survivors
include two sons, Wes Cherry and wife Amy and Austin Caruthers and wife Tracy
all of North Dakota; one daughter Leslie Cherry and fiancé Rick Harrison of
Kingman; two brothers Leon Lewis and wife Della and Ronny Lewis all of Wichita;

was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed

Matthew W. DeBusk, 45, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at his home in
Ellinwood. He was born on September 23, 1974, in Great Bend, Kansas to Raymond
E. &amp; Eleanor L. (Boese) DeBusk.

A lifetime
Barton and Stafford county resident, Matthew was a truck driver for the Venture
Corporation in Great Bend. He was of the Christian faith and enjoyed guns, video
games and Nascar races. He was a proud father of his son, and uncle to his
nieces and nephews. 

Survivors
include, his mother, Eleanor L. Fertig of St. John; his son, David J. DeBusk of
Scott City; two sisters, Christy DeBusk of Great Bend, and Amanda Feil
(Christopher) of Salina; a brother, Ivor DeBusk of Dodge City; and three
nephews and three nieces. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond E. DeBusk
and step mother, Linda K. DeBusk; and step father, Jim Fertig. 

There will be no viewing as cremation
has taken place. Graveside services are pending and will be held at a later

Matthew W. DeBusk

Larned – Donald Roy Parde, 69, passed away July 20, 2020 at
University of Kansas Health Systems Pawnee Valley Campus, Larned.

He was born August 28, 1950 in Simla, Colorado to Virgil
Oscar and Evelyn Clara Ruth Fienne Parde.

Moving from Belleville, he was an area resident since 2007
and he was of the Catholic faith. He worked as an HVAC Technician. He was a
member of the Belleville Fire Department for twenty-five years, an active cub
scout leader, coached his son’s baseball teams, and enjoyed gardening,
tinkering on things, and listening to music. He loved spending time with his
grandchildren.

On January 1, 1975 he married Donna Rose Heskett at
Belleville; she survives.

Other survivors include: five sons, Christian Parde,
Concordia, Joshua (Nicol) Parde, Belleville, Matthew (Nichol Humburg) Parde,
Argonia, Lucas Parde, Great Bend, Michael Parde, Larned; two sisters, Maxine
Allsman, Palm Springs, California, Carol Williams, Exeter, Nebraska; six
grandchildren, Zachary Parde, Mattea Parde, Caleb Parde, Jacqalyn Parde, Sidney
Parde, Max Parde; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother,
Virgil Parde.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be
held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Belleville City Park Fireman’s
Shelter, Belleville.

Oscar and Evelyn Clara Ruth Fienne Parde.Moving from Belleville, he was an area resident since 2007
and he was of the Catholic faith. He worked as an HVAC Technician. He was a
member of the Belleville Fire Department for twenty-five years, an active cub
scout leader, coached his son’s baseball teams, and enjoyed gardening,
tinkering on things, and listening to music. He loved spending time with his
grandchildren.On January 1, 1975 he married Donna Rose Heskett at
Belleville; she survives.Other survivors include: five sons, Christian Parde,
Concordia, Joshua (Nicol) Parde, Belleville, Matthew (Nichol Humburg) Parde,
Argonia, Lucas Parde, Great Bend, Michael Parde, Larned; two sisters, Maxine
Allsman, Palm Springs, California, Carol Williams, Exeter, Nebraska; six
grandchildren, Zachary Parde, Mattea Parde, Caleb Parde, Jacqalyn Parde, Sidney
Parde, Max Parde; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother,
Virgil Parde.Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be
held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Belleville City Park Fireman’s

Kansas Health Systems' Great Bend Campus.&nbsp; Jim was born on December 12,
1949 in Dallas, Texas to Mary Lou Cary and James Daniels and he married Connie
Pedigo on July 28, 1975.

A current Great Bend
resident, Jim was raised in Topeka, Kansas and attended Topeka High
School.&nbsp; Jim enjoyed playing golf and spending time with family and
friends.&nbsp; He especially enjoyed the time spent with his granddaughter
Madyson.

Survivors include his wife,

GREAT BEND - Reba J. Raleigh, 96, passed away July 14, 2020, at Medicalodges of Great Bend. She was born June 12, 1924, at Hobart, Okla., the daughter of Clifford C. &amp; Margaret (Jackson) Williams. She married John Richard Raleigh on October 9, 1944, at Frederick, Okla. He died February 20, 1999.

She was employed by Central Kansas Medical Center, Thurman-Morrison and Associates, and Dr. John J. Mingenback. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Great Bend. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include, a son, Joe D. Raleigh and wife Sandra of Wichita; one sister, Merideth Lohn of Willcox, Ariz.; one sister in law, Fern Raleigh of Windom; two granddaughters, Karen Dennett and husband Michael, and Kimberly Foster and husband Henry; five great grandchildren, Tyler Dennett and wife Ashley, Joshua Dennett, Baylea Dennett, John Foster, and Brianna Foster; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John R. Raleigh; and three sisters, Erma Mansell, Lorene Watson, and June Lyde.

Roberta Joan Haley, 87, died July 12, 2020, at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood. She was born January 19, 1933, in Gypsum, Kansas, the daughter of Robert J. and Mayola Fae (Beatty) Haley.

A longtime Claflin resident, Roberta cleaned houses and was a babysitter to many of the children in the community. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Altar Society, and Daughters of Isabella Circle #744.

Survivors include; a brother, Dennis Haley of Merrionette Park, Illinois; sisters, Mary Barta of Holyrood, and Patricia Haley of Ellinwood; 4 neices and several great neices and nephews.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday and Friday at the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 18th, 2020, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Claflin, celebrated by Father Terrance Klein. Interment will follow later at 2:00 p.m., in St. Patrick Cemtery, Gypsum.

Roberta Joan Haley

Larned – Jerald J. Hadley, 80, passed away July 8, 2020 at
the University of Kansas Health Systems Pawnee Valley Campus, Larned.

He was born March 15, 1940 in Ashland to Frank F. and Ida
Mae Schumacher Hadley.

After being raised in Shallow Water, KS, Jerald attended
McPherson College. Upon graduating college, he moved to Larned, Kansas, where
he was a high school biology teacher, track coach, and a Fellowship of
Christian Athletes sponsor. He was a member of New Jerusalem Church, Pawnee
Rock, a Santa Fail Trail Center Museum board member and volunteer, member of
the Jordaan Scholarship board, Larned Township board, and a past member of the
Larned Country Club board.

On July 25, 1964 he married Karen Louise Bontrager at
Shallow Water, KS, she survives.

Other survivors include: daughter, Kristina “Tina” Landon,
Ellsworth; son, Eric (Paris Bouchard) Hadley, St. Charles, Missouri; sister,
Janet (Dwayne) Lyles, Denver, Colorado; brother, Herald (Adrene) Hadley,
Spokane, Washington; four grandchildren, Kassy (Gunner) Phelan, Kailee Landon
(Christo Greyling), Michael Bouchard-Hadley, and Melany Bouchard-Hadley.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jill Hadley, and a
sister, Carol Barker.

Souther. She met Jerry M. Ward in January at KU and they married in September
24, 1949 at Kansas City, Missouri.&nbsp; He
died May 28, 2014.

A Great
Bend resident since 1952, Norma taught in the art department and was a curator
for the Shaffer Art Gallery at Barton Community College until she retired in
1998. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pilot Club,
Progressive Club, several bridge groups, and Art Inc. She was also a member of
the Retired Teachers Association and had served on the library board. Norma was
instrumental in getting the Camp Fire Girls started in Great Bend and was a
leader for many years. She liked KU sports, art, to travel, and play golf but
especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great
grandchildren. 

Survivors
include, two sons, Martin Ward and wife Janet of Lawrence, and Bob Ward and wife
Sueno of Tokyo; a daughter, Dana Peters and husband Mike of Shawnee; a sister,
Mary Wayne Smith; six grandchildren, Jeremy Ward and wife Carisa, Christopher
Ward, Brian Peters, Kelli Nwude and husband Uchenna, Stacy Dirks and husband
Chris, and Stefanie Ward; and seven great grandchildren, Maddox Ward, Braxton

Alan
Douglas Ochs, 72, passed away July 4, 2020, at his home in rural
Hoisington.&nbsp; Alan was born July 10, 1947,
in Ransom, to Henry and Gwenola (Bagley) Ochs, Jr. &nbsp;On August 6, 1966, Alan married Jeannie
Siefkes, and were later divorced.&nbsp; On
August 5, 1975, he met Leta (Jackson) in Hoisington, and they had remained together
until her passing on Aug. 19, 2015.

Alan,
growing up in rural Barton County, had been a Hoisington resident since
1959.&nbsp; He was a U.S. Army veteran of the
Vietnam War, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant.&nbsp; Alan was a career oilfield worker, working for
LD Drilling for many years, and eventually as a machinist for GBI, retiring in
2012.&nbsp; He was a member of American Legion
Post 286 and V.F.W. Post 7428, both of Hoisington.

Survivors
include three daughters Kerry Lynn Brady of Ariz., Justina Ochs of Stafford,
and Angela Ochs of Hoisington; two sisters, Lin Ochs and husband Henry Porter
of Goodyear, Ariz. and Marcia Welch of Ft. Collins, Co.; one brother, Owen Ochs
and wife Deanna of Hoisington; four grandchildren, Bailey Kelly, Mercedes

1959.&nbsp; He was a U.S. Army veteran of the
Vietnam War, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant.&nbsp; Alan was a career oilfield worker, working for
LD Drilling for many years, and eventually as a machinist for GBI, retiring in
2012.&nbsp; He was a member of American Legion
Post 286 and V.F.W. Post 7428, both of Hoisington.Survivors
include three daughters Kerry Lynn Brady of Ariz., Justina Ochs of Stafford,
and Angela Ochs of Hoisington; two sisters, Lin Ochs and husband Henry Porter
of Goodyear, Ariz. and Marcia Welch of Ft. Collins, Co.; one brother, Owen Ochs
and wife Deanna of Hoisington; four grandchildren, Bailey Kelly, Mercedes
Gross, Jaylan Cartwright and Kataija Ochs; step siblings, Phil Christy and wife
Marsha, Bob Christy and wife Leora, Cathy Ennis and husband Bill and Richard
Christy and wife Brenda; step children, Wendell, Ruby, Michael, Mary, Linda and
Orlin; and numerous step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. He was

GREAT BEND - Kenny W. Warnken, 67, passed away July 4, 2020, at his home in Great Bend. He was born on December 1, 1952, at Great Bend, to Allen &amp; Moyne (Seltmann) Warnken.

A lifetime Great Bend resident, Kenny worked for Essex. He enjoyed country cruising while listening to his oldies music. He also enjoyed listening to the police scanner.  

Survivors include, a son, Erik Warnken and wife Elizabeth of Palmer Lake, Colo.; a daughter, Traci Brackbill of Great Bend; a brother, Gordon Warnken and wife Jane of Hutchinson; a sister, Verla Gorham of Valley Center; and three grandchildren, Kaiden Brackbill, Terrance Warnken, and Neil Warnken. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Roger Warnken.

Marie Maneth, 91, passed away July 5, 2020, at Hays Medical Center, Hays.&nbsp; She was born April 12, 1929, in Great Bend to
Edward Aloysius and Charlotte (Schneider) Riedel. Marcella married Leonard E. Maneth
Sept. 29, 1948 in Olmitz.&nbsp; He died Feb.
9, 2002.

Marcella, a
lifetime resident of Olmitz living a short while at Riverbend in Great Bend,
was a devoted member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Olmitz.&nbsp; She was a homemaker and farmer, enjoying all
aspects of farm life, especially the joys of raising chickens, milking cows,
field work, butchering and cooking. Cherishing her time with family and
friends, her door was always open to her loved ones.

Survivors
include two sons, Edward C. Maneth and wife Kelly of Olmitz and David Maneth and
wife Laura of Raytown, Mo.; three daughters, Diana Wilson of Kansas City, Mo.,
Jolene Dozier and husband Greg of Independence, and Mary Harbert and husband

Larned – Theodore “Ted” Roosevelt Seachris, 94, passed away
July 2, 2020 at Diversicare of Larned.

He was born June 26, 1926 in Waynoka, Oklahoma to Charles
and Mary Beaman Seachris.

A longtime area resident, he was of the Pentecostal faith,
attended the Welcome Inn Senior Center, and was a welder for Doerr Metal
Company, Larned.&nbsp; 

On June 21, 1952 he married Florine M. Rhodes in Kinsley;
she preceded him in death on November 18, 1998. He later married Betty McDonald
on September 10, 2010 in Larned, she survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Donald Seachris and Danny
Seachris, both of Larned; step son, Michael Honomichl, Larned; daughter, Betty
Moore, Larned; sister, Elsie Bingham, Pollock Pines, California; three
grandchildren; one step grandchild; six great grandchildren and two step great
grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Florine; son,
Bobby Seachris; step daughter, Sherry Hopkins; four brothers, Roy Seachris,
Marvin Seachris, Bill Seachris, Paul Seachris and three grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 8,

McNett. He married Glennis F. Lamb on October 14, 1973, at Great Bend. She died
January 19, 2012.

A lifetime
Great Bend resident, Samuel was a refrigeration maintenance tech at Great Bend
Packing. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic
Church. He enjoyed playing cards, watching westerns, wrestling and his son's motocross
races. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. 

Survivors
include, two sons, Mark McNett, and Jesse McNett and wife Becky, all of Great
Bend; four grandchildren, Mickie McNett, Randy McNett, Mackenzie Klett, and
Shaylyn McNett; and three great grandchildren, Sawyer Klett, Aaron Klett, Jr.,
and Reese Klett. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Glennis
McNett; a son, Mickie "Mick" McNett; and a brother, Maynard McNett.

Mildred Staab Pfannenstiel, 94, of Leawood, KS., formerly of Great Bend and Hays, KS., died peacefully on June 27, 2020. Millie was born Sept. 18, 1925, in Catharine, KS, to John C. and Christina (Schmeidler) Staab. She grew up on a farm near Catharine, northeast of Hays. Millie graduated from Girls Catholic High School (now Thomas More Prep-Marian High) in 1943 and attended Mount St. Scholastica College (now Benedictine College) pursuing a degree in biology.&nbsp; Upon returning to Hays, she worked at the Hays Daily News as a copy editor. In 1949 she married Alvin F. Pfannenstiel and they were married nearly 65 before Al's death in 2014. Al and Millie were also business partners, owning two grocery stores, one in Ellis, KS, then Al's College Market in Hays. Following that, they owned and operated the Airliner Motel in Great Bend, KS, for 18 years. They shared in many of the day-to-day elements of a owning a business. It could be stated that Millie managed the internal details, while Al handled the operations. They retired in 1986 and resided in Great Bend until 2005 when they moved to Leawood. They also continued their involvement in the farming business with the Staab family. Millie was a devout follower of her Catholic faith and most recently a member of Cure of Ars Church (Leawood). She was a former parishioner of St. Patrick’s in Great Bend and an active member/officer of the Daughters of Isabella. Millie is survived by son Don and daughter-in-law, Mitzi Martin Pfannenstiel, and two grandchildren, Kenedy and Campbell Pfannenstiel of Leawood; brother Francis "Frank" Staab and sister-in-law Kathy Staab of Hays; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by siblings and their spouses, Mary (Clarence) Bell, Benno Staab and Virgil (Wilma) Staab. Also, preceding Millie in death was sister-in-law Myra Staab.&nbsp; A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Monday, July 6 at St. Catherine’s Church, Catharine, KS (seven miles northeast of Hays). Patrick Dino, 73, passed away April 6, 2020, at Via Christi St. Francis,
Wichita. He was born on April 6, 1947, at Monticello, New York, to Floyd &amp;
Clara (Kreutzer) Dino (Sweetman). He married Mary Stos on November 3, 1977, at
Liberal, KS. She survives.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorial
services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 11, 2020, at St. Patrick
Catholic Church, Great Bend, with Father Don Bedore presiding. &nbsp;Military Rites will be conducted by the Fort
Riley Honor Guard. Memorials are suggested to the Gary Dino Funeral Expense

in Great Bend.&nbsp; Gene passed away July 16,
1984.&nbsp; She then married Jerry Allen Pierson
April 17, 1993, in Great Bend.&nbsp; Jerry
passed away November 20, 2011.

A
Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, July 10, 2020 at King
United Methodist Church, with Reverend Laurie White presiding.&nbsp; It has been requested by the family, due to
current COVID-19 health concerns, that everyone in attendance of the service

James Keith Romine, 86, passed away June 30, 2020, at the University
Of Kansas Health System - Great Bend Campus. He was born July 28, 1933, at
Harveyville, Kan., to Clair &amp; Mable (Fee) Romine. He married Rita Strobel
on October 15, 1955, at Great Bend. She survives.

A lifetime
Great Bend resident, James was a farmer. He was a member of Prince of Peace St.
Patrick Catholic Church, the VFW Post #3111, and American Legion #180. He was
on the Board of Directors for the Great Bend Coop for 8 years. James enjoyed
hunting, playing cards, and especially enjoyed being with his family. 

Survivors
include, his wife Rita Romine of the home; two sons, Kent Romine and wife
Valerie, and Kevin Romine and wife Tammy, all of Great Bend; two daughters,
Renee Schneweis and husband Paul of Great Bend, and Marita Walls and husband
Dan of Elkhart; a brother, Gene Romine of Independence, Mo.; a sister, Etta May
Stratton of Dallas, Tex.; eight grandchildren, Melissa, Ashley, Jessica, Kirk,
James, Lindsey, Chad and Ryan; six great grandchildren, Trace, Grace, Teegan,
Hayden, Raquel and Owen; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death
by his parents, Clair and Mable Romine; a brother, Dale Romine; and a sister,
Wilma Rodda. 

Visitation
will be held from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, July 5, 2020 at Bryant Funeral
Home, with Vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at
11:00 a.m., Monday, July 6, 2020, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend,
with Pastor Terrance Klein presiding. Interment will be in the Great Bend
Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the St. Joseph Catholic School, in care of
Bryant Funeral Home.
