Sheriff: Kansas felon caught transporting crack cocaine

WABAUNSEE COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a Kansas couple on multiple allegations after a traffic stop arrest.

Just before 12:30a.m. Tuesday, a sheriff's deputy initiated a traffic stop on a passenger vehicle for excessive speed and equipment violations in the vicinity of Kansas 4 highway and Wakarusa Road just north of Eskridge in Wabaunsee County, according to the sheriff's department. 

Two sheriff's department officials made contact with the vehicle occupants and their subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, identified as 33-year-old Colter Weeks of Louisville, Kansas. 

He was taken into custody on scene without incident on requested charges of driving while suspended, possession of opiate, opium, narcotic or certain stimulant (two counts); Methamphetamine and HCL base crack cocaine.

The passenger, identified as 34-year-old Jerah Weeks of Louisville, Kansas  was arrested on requested charges of possession of opiate, opium, narcotic or certain stimulant (two counts); Methamphetamine & HCL base crack cocaine and for unlawfully obtaining prescription drugs.

Colter Weeks has a previous felony conviction for battery on a city or county corrections officer, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
