Driver hospitalized after crash with KCPD vehicle

KANSAS CITY —One person was injured in an accident with a police vehicle just before 10a.m. on Monday.

According to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino, a Mitsubishi Endeavor was westbound on 57th Street at Woodland in Kansas City. 

The driver of the Mitsubishi failed to stop for the posted stop sign and entered the intersection. A northbound marked blue KCPD Ford Explorer struck the Mitsubishi. EMS transported the driver and sole occupant of the Mitsubishi to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The KCPD officer received non-life-threatening injuries but was not transported to a medical facility, according to DiMartino. The accident remains under investigation.
