JOHNSON COUNTY —Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire in a multi-family home.
Just after 4:30p.m. Wednesday crews responded to a fire in a triplex the 8300 Block of Travis Lane, according to a media release.
First units reported a room and contents on fire on the backside of the split-level triplex. The residents escaped but firefighters learned of a possible dog still inside.
While firefighters searched to confirm residents were out safely, crews brought the fire under control in about 15-minutes. The fire was contained to the unit where it started. The other two mild to moderate smoke damage. The missing dog was found deceased inside the unit. One adult from the unit where the fire started and one adult from an adjoining unit were displaced. Residents of the third unit were allowed to return.
