SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement are investigating a shooting that injured three people and have captured a suspect identified as 26-year-old Devonte Parker, of Wichita
Parker is accused in connection with the April 11 shooting of three people who were inside a home in the 2500 block of East 25th Street North in Wichita, according to a media release from Wichita Police.
On April 28, investigators presented the case to the Sedgwick County District Attorney, who charged Parker with discharge at an occupied residence resulting in great bodily harm, discharge at an occupied vehicle, aggravated assault, and three counts of aggravated battery.
On April 30, Parker was taken into custody without incident.
“From the beginning, I said we would leave no stone unturned to hold the person responsible for this act accountable,” Wichita Police Chief Joe Sullivan said. “This arrest reflects the hard work, focus, and persistence of our investigators, crime analysts, officers, Crime Scene Investigators, and professional staff, who worked to build a strong case and move it forward for prosecution. This was a blatant and senseless act of violence that put innocent people in danger inside a home, where they should have been safe. Our message is clear: Violent crime will be investigated thoroughly, and we will work with our partners to hold those responsible accountable.”
