SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a retail crime and have made and arrest and recovered hundreds of dollars in merchandise.
The holiday hustle was in full swing Monday afternoon during the Wichita Police Department Mounted Unit's routine Holiday Patrol at the local businesses on N. Greenwich Road, according to a social media report.
A retailer waved officers down about a shoplifting incident involving items taken from Cabelas.
Officers took charge, gathering information and quickly locating the suspect and their vehicle in the vicinity. They recovered all the stolen merchandise, totaling close to $1600.
Sumner County Sheriff Deputy Wylie and Sgt Thomas of Caldwell Police assisted the Wichita Mounted Police to apprehend the shop lifter.
Police booked the suspect on requested charges that include two misdemeanor theft cases.
