
JOHNSON COUNTY—A second child died from injuries in an apartment fire last weekend in Overland Park.
On April 18, crews responded to an apartment fire at the Sheridan Ridge Apartments, 83rd and Farley in Overland Park, according to a social media report.
Firefighters rescued two people from the roof and two others from a second-story bathroom. Another person was found on the ground outside the apartment.
One adult and 3 children were transported in critical condition. Another adult was transported in stable condition. The fire was quickly knocked down and contained to unit where it started.
One 11-year-old boy died and a 10-year-old girl have died of injuries, according to an online fundraiser established to help the family.. Other family members also remain hospitalized. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
