The Wildcats had won 15 of the last 16 games in Manhattan. The teams split the last four meetings in the series, with each team winning two home games. Prior to that, K-State had won 10 straight games in the series.

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Caleb Williams had a big starting debut for No. 4 Oklahoma, throwing for 295 yards and four touchdowns and running for another score in the Sooners’ 52-31 victory over TCU on Saturday night. The freshman unseated Spencer Rattler as the starter after leading a comeback victory over Texas last week in Dallas. He started fast against TCU with an opening 75-yard touchdown drive that took just under three minutes. Williams was 18 of 23 and ran for 66 yards on nine carries. He had a 41-yard scoring run, juking a defender at the line of scrimmage and taking off. Oklahoma had three consecutive touchdown drives to open the third quarter, including two touchdown connections between Williams and Jadon Haselwood.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Tanner Brown’s fourth field goal of the game gave No. 12 Oklahoma State its first lead and Spencer Sanders’ scrambling 10-yard touchdown run sealed a 32-24 victory over No. 25 Texas on Saturday to keep the Cowboys undefeated. Texas built leads of 17-3 and 24-13 behind three touchdowns from Bijan Robinson before Oklahoma State’s defense and punishing run game behind Jaylen Warren took over the game. It was the second straight week Texas (4-3, 2-2) surrendered big leads in tough losses. The Longhorns led Oklahoma 28-7 before losing 55-48 last week.

WACO, Texas (AP) — Abram Smith ran for 188 yards with three touchdowns and Baylor beat future Big 12 foe and 19th-ranked BYU 38-24. Bears linebacker and part-time fullback Dillon Doyle scored on both of his offensive touches, with a rushing TD and a receiving one as well. Baylor is 6-1 and already is bowl eligible. BYU last month accepted an invitation to join the Big 12 Conference for the 2023 season. The Cougars are 5-2 after back-to-back losses. They had peaked at No. 10 in the AP Top 25.

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Georgia has earned a victory in its first game since moving to No. 1 in The Associated Press football poll. Stetson Bennett tossed three touchdown passes and the Bulldogs got another stifling defensive effort in a 30-13 victory over No. 11 Kentucky. The senior quarterback was 14 of 20 for 250 yards in another solid performance with injured QB TJ Daniels watching from the sideline.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Aidan O’Connell threw for 375 yards and accounted for three touchdowns as Purdue beat second-ranked Iowa for the fourth time in their last five meetings, 24-7. O’Connell was 30 of 40 passing with two touchdowns, and he also ran for a score. David Bell had a career-best 240 yards receiving in Purdue’s first victory over a top-two team since 1974 against second-ranked Notre Dame.

Alabama bounced back from its first loss since 2019 as Bryce Young threw for 348 yards and four touchdowns to lead the fifth-ranked Crimson Tide to a 49-9 pounding of Mississippi St.

HOUSTON (AP) — The Boston Red Sox became the first team in postseason history to hit two grand slams in the same game, doing it during the first two innings of a 9-5 rout of the Astros in Houston. J.D. Martinez made it 4-0 with his opposite field shot off rookie Luis García with two out in the first, helping the Red Sox even the AL Championship Series at a game apiece. Rafael Devers did the honors in the second inning against Jake Odorizzi who entered the game after Garcia left with right knee discomfort.

ATLANTA (AP) — Austin Riley delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to give the Atlanta Braves a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 of the NL Championship Series. The Dodgers ran themselves out of a rally in the ninth as Chris Taylor was caught in a rundown for the final out.
