JOHNSON COUNTY —Authorities are working to determine the cause of a fire at a home in Johnson County.

Just after 7p.m. Wednesday, fire crews from Overland Park and Consolidated Fire District #2 were called to a house fire in the 5300 Block of Foster Street in Overland Park, according to a media release.

Firet arriving units found fire and heavy smoke coming from the garage of the single story, single family home.

Fire crews attacked the fire in the garage and searched to confirm everyone was safely out of the home. After knocking down the garage fire, crews encountered small volumes of fire on the interior and in the attic. Both fires were quickly extinguished.

Fire damage to the home is significant with smoke damage throughout.  Two adults and three children were displaced. The Red Cross is assisting them with lodging.  There were no injuries.
