SEDGWICK COUNTY —A Kansas woman is going to prison for a knife attack that critically injured another woman

Judge Eric Williams sented 28-year-old Amanda Dutcher of Wichita to 29-months in the Kansas Department of Corrections and 12 months of post release supervision, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.

Just after 7:30a.m. May 14, 2025, police responded to a report of a cutting in an alley near 12th and Broadway in Wichita, according to police spokesperson Brad Wright. First responders found a 47-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds. Police arrested Dutcher.

Dutcher and the victim apparently did not know each other, according to police.

Dutcher had previous convictions for theft and burglary, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections and had been released from state custody May 7.   She is due back in court June 2 and remains jailed in Sedgwick County on a $200,000 bond, according to the District Attorney's office.
