SALINE COUNTY —The cause of the death of a man whose body was found dumped along the side of the road in north Salina in late January has been ruled a fentanyl overdose and one of two people sought in the case has been arrested, according to a media release from Salina Police Department.
On Jan. 28, a citizen contacted police about a body in the 1900 block of N. Fifth Street. Police later identified the body as that of 20-year-old Brendon Thomas Wade Reed.
According to a statement from police, On January 29, an autopsy was conducted and no signs of fatal trauma were located during the examination. The autopsy and toxicology findings determined Reed’s cause of death a fentanyl overdose.
This week, warrants were issued for 44-year-old Jack Allen Kelley and 54-year-old Garret Clayton Crutchfield, both Salina residents for criminal desecration of a body and interference with law enforcement.
On Wednesday, police booked Kelley into the Saline County Jail for one count of criminal desecration of a body and one count of interference with law enforcement.
Police are looking for Crutchfield. He has previous felony convictions for burglary and theft, according to the Kansas Dept. of Corrections.
