LEAVENWORTH COUNTY —One person died in an accident just before 1:30a.m. Thursday in Leavenworth County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2016 Jeep Wrangler driven by Allan Selley, 31, Independence, Missouri, was westbound on Interstate 70 just west of Bonner Springs.
The driver made an unsafe lane change from the left into right lane and rear-ended a 2019 Honda Civic driven by Roberto Lemus, 44, Kansas City, Kansas. After impact the Honda traveled off the road to the right into the ditch. The car struck a delineator post and came to rest in the tree line. The Jeep came to rest perpendicular in the roadway.
Lemus was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Forensic Medical. Selley was not injured. Both driver were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
