SEDGWICK COUNTY— A Kansas man arrested by police after a standoff in Hutchinson for killing a man in Wichita will face a jury trial.
During a preliminary hearing this week, Judge Christoper Magana ruled that prosecutors presented enough evidence for 31-year-old Andrew Presley to stand trial in the killing of 32-year-old Kelly Black, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.
Presley pleaded not guilty to charges of second degree murder and criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Just before 6p.m. July 13, 2025, police responded to a shooting in the 7,000 block of E. Lincoln in Wichita.. First responders found Black lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead.
On July 15, 2025 police in Hutchinson arrested Presley after a brief standoff, according to a media release from the Wichita Police Department.
Presley remains jailed on bonds totaling over $1,000,000.00, according to online jail records.
