Police recover van stolen from Kansas catering business

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a series stolen vehicles and have two suspects in custody.

Just after 7:00 a.m. Thursday, police responded to numerous reports of stolen vehicles across the city of Topeka, including a van from Engroff Catering, 2127 SW Westport Drive, according to Police Lt. Ron Ekis.

Throughout the course of the investigation, officers were able to locate the van, unoccupied, near SW 37th Street and Fairlawn Road in Topeka as well as a stolen motorcycle.

Investigators later located an additional stolen vehicle in the area and two suspects, identified as Cody B. Sanchez, 27, of Topeka, and Taylor Reed, 28, of Topeka, who were believed to be involved.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested Sanchez and Reed and booked them into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of Auto Theft.
