MCPHERSON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities investigating a deadly December crash that killed a Kansas teacher have filed charges against the driver of the other vehicle involved.
On Friday, the driver of the Nissan SUV identified as 33-year-0ld James Holzrichter was charged by the McPherson County Attorney with Involuntary Manslaughter, Aggravated Battery, Driving Under the Influence, Aggravated Child Endangerment, No Liability Insurance, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Maintain Lane, according to the McPherson County Sheriff's Office.
Canton-Galva teacher Ashley Austin, 30, died four days after the crash that occurred just after 7:30a.m. December 15 at Highway 56 and 24th Avenue. She was the agriculture education teacher and FFA advisor at the school.
Holzrichter is being held the McPherson County Jail on a $75,000 bond, according to online jail records.
