Police work to ID human remains found in Kansas field

SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating after human remains were found in Sedgwick County.

Just after 6:30 p.m. Saturday, police responded to a call reporting human remains found in a field by a passerby near 1400 S. Hoover, according to Officer Kris Gupilan.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers observed the remains, which were subsequently confirmed to be of human origin.

The officers and investigators conducted a thorough search of the immediate vicinity for any additional evidence. 

The deceased has not been identified, according to Gupilan and the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the remains are still being investigated.

The remains were collected and submitted for further testing.
