LYON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a fatal Kansas house fire.
Just before 4 a.m. Friday, Lyon County Emergency Communications received a report of house fire at 1993 Road G, according to Sheriff Jeff Cope.
First responders found the one-story home engulfed in flames.
The bodies of an unidentified man and woman were discovered deceased in the residence. The joint investigation into the cause of the fire and the identification of the deceased in being conducted by the Emporia Fire Department, Kansas State Fire Marshalls office and the Lyon County Sheriffs office.
The Lyon County Highway Department assisted with debris removal to facilitate the safe recovery of the bodies. The structure was a total loss.
