SEDGWICK COUNTY —A Harlan Red Tailed Hawk used for educational programming escaped his enclosure on Monday, according to a social media report from the Midwest Avian Foundation.

The hawk, known as Harley, is a non-released bird and has limited ability to fly. He has likely not gone far from the organization located at 910 S Vassar Street in Wichita, and is probably tucked up in a bush or tree with low hanging branches. "He may soon come out to attempt to hunt and might wind up on the ground."

The bird is wearing leather anklets and 2 straps hanging down, called “jesses." On Thursday, the organization reported their best guess was that he might be south of Lincoln, between Rock and Woodlawn in Wichita.

If you see him in a tree, notify us immediately. If you see him on the ground, you can try to catch him with a towel or blanket and put him in a box. Then notify us. Midwest Avian Foundation 316-214-7705Carrie Lower 316-633-6303Rachael: 316-616-7446
