Police: Teen arrested for fatal stabbing of 27-year-old in Newton

HARVEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a fatal stabbing and have a suspect in custody.

Just before 11 p.m. Thursday, a police officer witnessed a vehicle driving erratically in the 2000 block of West First Street in Newton, according to a media release.

The officer stopped the vehicle, and the 16-year-old male driver immediately reported he had just been involved in a fight and had stabbed someone. Police found a bloody knife in the vehicle.

Police located a victim identified as 27-year-old Ian Foy in the 100 block of Evans Street with life-threatening injuries. EMS transported Ian Foy to a Wichita hospital, where he later died.

Police arrested the juvenile on a requested charge of second-degree murder, according to the release.

Investigators are working to determine the relationship between the victim, the suspect and other factors contributing to the stabbing. Police did release the name of juvenile suspect.
