MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. – A KC-135 Stratotanker’s front landing gear retracted while it was parked on the McConnell Air Force Base flightline at approximately 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to a statement from the base.

Aircrew had disembarked prior to the incident. Two maintainers were on board the aircraft and three others were near the aircraft at the time of the incident, but no one was injured.

McConnell emergency response forces responded to the aircraft and remain at the scene.

“Today our Emergency Response Airmen put their training to this real-world test, and I am extremely proud of how they conducted themselves and performed their duties,” said Col. Cory Damon, 22nd Air Refueling Wing commander. “Other flying operations at McConnell remain unhindered by this incident.”  The incident is under investigation.
