Barton Baseball's Ellison earns conference player of the week award

Jordan Ellison of the Barton Community College baseball team has been named the week four KJCCC Division I Player of the Week.

Ellison led the Barton offense posting a 1.143 slugging percentage and .429 batting average backed by three round trippers and five RBI's helping Barton to a season opening sweep over Western Nebraska Community College. Ellison recorded a solo shot home run and double in Saturday's opener, carrying the hot bat into the nightcap collecting his second multi-hit game connecting on a pair of big fly's in the Cougars' thrilling 11-10 win in extras. In Sunday's contests, Ellison extended his hit streak with singles in each contest while adding another RBI helping the Cougars' complete the sweep.

Ellison and the Cougars next head to Kansas City for a three-pack of games beginning Friday at Kansas City Kansas Community College. Playing a single 2:00 p.m. nine inning affair on Friday, the teams will tangle in a doubleheader Saturday beginning at noon.
