SALINE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect for an alleged attack at a grocery store in Salina.

Just after 9p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the Dillons, 1201 W. Crawford Street,  after an employee called police to report a disorderly man who refused to leave the store.

According to Police Captain James Feldman, 27-year-old Kish Cox of Salina entered the store and became disruptive with employees, and after a 59-year-old employee told Kish to leave, he became aggressive.

"The employee got her phone and told Cox she was calling police," Feldman said. "Cox knocked the phone out of her hand and punched her in the shoulder.

Feldman said the employee called out for help, and another 29-year-old Dillons employee went to assist. According to Feldman, Cox then slapped the employee across the face with his belt, and when a woman customer attempted to confront Cox, he struck her in the face with a belt, too.

Officers then arrived at the scene and arrested Cox without further incident.

The three victims had minor injuries. Cox was jailed requested charges  of aggravated intimidation of a witness, four counts of battery, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct.
