RENO COUNTY —Authorities are working to determine the cause of an apartment fire in Hutchinson.

At 11:30p.m. Thursday crews responded to the fire in the 100 block of West 9th Street, according to a media release. First responders found a two story multi-family apartment with heavy fire showing from the front entry extending to the second floor.

Crews pushed their way inside attacking the fire and looking for victims. There was fire throughout the home and into the attic. Crews were able to put the fire out with minimal extension to the second apartment.

One injury was reported, but that person was treated on scene by Reno County EMS and released. There was heavy fire damage in one apartment, with just smoke damage and some minor fire damage in the second apartment.

The American Red Cross was called to assist the occupants.
